The Rookie goes undercover and international in this week’s episode. Lucy (Melissa O’Neil) and Nyla (Mekia Cox) go to Mexico to solve a murder while Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Miles (Deric Augustine) deal with a surveillance mission. A lot of time passes in “Baja” but it does not feel too rushed…though the jumps are jarring. Grey and Miles find surprising partnerships, careers are in danger and Tim has to wear an interesting outfit. Both characters give it their all when it comes to undercover work and this one is personal. There are some touches of backstory. Relationship of the Week: Nyla & Lucy Their partnership is the heart of the episode. Tim and James also deserve a little shout out. “Are you kidding? You were the perfect girlfriend.” “You know, when I volunteered for this, I thought I was going to be Nolan and Bailey in Prague.” “All right and I am back in the ditch.” “I spent 9 months showering outside and eating roadside burritos.” Do you have any theories for “Baja”?
