It certainly was not as large as any of the evenings with actual “Winter Olympics” event coverage. But the Closing Ceremony on NBC last night scored a dominant 8.2 rating/13 share in the household overnights from 7-10:30 p.m. ET, peaking in the 8:30 p.m. half-hour with a 10.9/16. Needless to say, this was a very successful two-week event for NBC. Now the question, of course, is if the momentum will continue on the primetime line-up and in late night.
Airing out of The Closing Ceremony was the preview/premiere of sitcom “Growing Up Fisher” at a first place 6.5/11 at 10:30 p.m., which held 77 percent of the 8.4/13 for the lead-in at 10 p.m. “Growing Up Fisher” debuts in its regularly scheduled time period – Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. – tomorrow out of “About a Boy” (which previewed at 11:05 p.m. ET on Saturday). While both half-hours are unlikely to perform at their Winter Olympics-ignited preview levels, airing out of “The Voice” from 8-9 p.m. will not hurt.
In season-premiere news, “The Amazing Race” on CBS, featuring an All-Star Edition, scored an estimated 5.3/ 8 (#2) in the 8 p.m. hour. Part of that overnight average was “60 Minutes,” which began at 7:13 p.m. ET due to a late start for the Eye net’s primetime line-up. All individual program results for CBS are, therefore, estimated. Aforementioned “60 Minutes” was below average at a 5.8/10 in the 7 p.m. hour, while a 9-10 p.m. encore edition of “The Mentalist” (#4: 2.4/ 4) led into a repeat of “The Good Wife” at a 2.3/ 4 from 10-11 p.m. Given that CBS tends to cancel one veteran crime solver every season, “The Mentalist” will likely be the next to go.
Over at Fox was a night of all repeats – “Bob’s Burgers” (#4: 2.7/ 5), “American Dad” (#4: 2.4/ 4), “The Simpsons” (#3: 3.8/ 6), the regularly scheduled edition of “Bob’s Burgers” (#2: 4.6/ 7), “Family Guy” (#3: 4.8/ 7) and the regularly scheduled edition of “American Dad” (#2: 4.7/ 7) – from 7-10 p.m. And ABC, also in all repeats, populated the evening with an veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (#3: 3.7/ 6 at 7 p.m.), 2009 theatrical “The Proposal” (#4: 3.3/ 5 from 8-10 p.m.) and a Sunday 10 p.m. edition of “Castle” (#2: 2.8/ 5).

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
