"Remembrance of Things Past" - When several women are found murdered in a similar fashion, Rossi revisits a cold case that has haunted him for 25 years, causing him to suspect that the original killer is at work again, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Oct. 13 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Guest stars include Emmy Award winner Daniel J. Travanti ("Hill Street Blues") as Mr. Mullens, the original unsub that Rossi hunted in the first string of killings years ago, who now suffers from Alzheimer's Disease. Mary Beth Evans ("Days of Our Lives") guest stars as Candice DeLilly, the mother of one of the victims.

This is the story of a woman who overcomes family crisis. A story of a woman losing her only son. No, I'm not referring to the sudden fake death of baby Stan, but to Jules' loss of Travis for college. Jules thinks she has a week before Travis is leaving to college, and she thinks that it is enough time for her to cope with it without having to board the crazy train. However, when Travis decides to move to his dorms a few days earlier, she fails.

The first stop on the crazy train, includes a drive down the infancy memory lane, where Jules remembers the macaroni necklace she used Travis' hands to make, at the tender age of one. Or how she used to make Travis' cry on demand by pinching him lightly (depends on who you are asking) to make the annoying people go away.

At the next stop, Jules is taking some actions as she walks into Travis in the shower and grabs him out so they could do “fun” things together. The chosen activities include sifting through a box with Travis' old body parts, getting matching toe rings, and Jules favorite: scaring Travis to death so he'll grab her very very tight.

In the meantime, other things are happening in Cougar Town. Bobby and Andy prove that their bromance overcomes cynicism, and they are as strong in love as Eric and Bentz.
Laurie (now known as Jelly Bean) is recalling her happy memories of pretending to go to college, and her love for drinking games that hasn't changed since. Later she also finds herself drawn to Jules' wonderful cleavage (which once Travis ate from!), but really, who can blame her?

Ellie (now known as Satan, because she hasn't told her neighbor, Peeping Tom, that baby Stan wasn't really dead, just so he'll keep doing stuff for her), explains to Grayson that the reason she never talks about baby Stan is because according to Andy, moms who talk about their children all the time are not sexy.

Andy however, rebels against Ellie, and tells a story about baby Stan despite Ellie's death stare. As a punishment for Andy's misbehavior, Ellie withdrawals all eye contact from him. To win Ellie's eyes back, Andy thinks he should get Ellie to talk about baby Stan as well. He thinks that in order for that to happen, baby Stan has to do something big, like walk. So he raises baby Stan up in the air but the cunning plan fails when Ellie walks into the room and sees him doing it.
Finally Ellie explains to Andy that the reason she never talks about baby Stan is because of him. So Andy, Jelly Bean and Grayson reassure Ellie that she'd never be like those neglected type of mothers who only talk about their children, because she is too evil and self absorbed for that.

Bobby as apposed to Jules is having an easier time coping with Travis' leave. But when Travis gives him his old computer, he tries to learn how to use it (with Jelly Bean's help), just so he can keep in touch with him.

On board to the last crazy train stop, Jules tries to have one last family dinner with Travis and Bobby. Only Bobby never shows up, and Jules and Travis end up fighting. Travis leaves home as soon as he can after the fight, leaving Jules sleeping creepily in his bed wearing his lavender and self doubt smelling “stud” t-shirt.

In the end Jules realizes she is a bad mother, and the change isn't just hard for her but for Travis too (it's still harder for her, though), so she and Bobby drive a whole twenty minutes to make up with Travis and get her proper meaningful glance goodbye from him.

This is just absolutely adorable because if you wait long enough - someone interrupts Allison.


 

It’s kind of hard to write about The Good Wife. It’s a really complex show, containing many little details that are too rich to be included in any review. So I’ll give you the main things – the main story, the main conflicts, the main characters. But you should now that’s not everything about the show. In my opinion describing every single detail would be kind of offensive to the show, because it relies heavily on its viewers’ intelligence. So keep that in mind. Here we go:

The season premiere of The Good Wife starts exactly where the previous season left off. Alicia is torn between the two men in her life – her husband and her co-worker (or actually her boss). Peter, her husband, is having a press conference and as usual he needs her to be completely supportive, at least in front of the cameras. The second she is about to step up on the stage she receives a phone call by Will, her co-worker, who tells her he loves her. Alicia is holding the telephone in her hand, while looking at Peter, who awaits her on stage.

To be honest, I never really liked that cliffhanger to begin with. It looked a little bit like a cheap soap-opera trick and didn’t capture the mature and realistic spirit of the show. Thankfully, the first few minutes of the premiere managed to make everything right. Alicia didn’t answer Will’s call – the circumstances didn’t let her answer. But that doesn’t mean she is definitely sticking with Peter, she just hasn’t made her choice yet. From what I’m hearing season two will deal mostly with that particular choice.

The season opener doesn’t provide mush information on Alicia’s feelings regarding the matter. The story rather focuses on the outsider’s point of view. Will is still in love with her, although he is lacking a plan. Kalinda is telling her she should talk to him about it. Peter is trying to win her over again, to be gentle, supportive and understanding. Eli Gold is trying to sabotage her relationship with Will, while giving her advises on dealing with the press. A random TV reporter is trying to analyze her body language. And in the middle of all of that is her – Alicia Florrick. She is confused and lost and all she wants is inner peace. The situation she is in is portrayed in a really realistic and touching way. I’m glad the writers didn’t try to force the story, but gave it a space to breathe.

Aside from the love triangle, the episode contains a usual for the show stand-alone case. This time Alicia has to defend an arrogant young man charged with murder. He is a co-owner of a web site and his partner has been killed. The man pleads innocent, saying it was a government job. According to him the military killed his partner, because he posted a specific video on their website. The case looks almost lost, but Alicia is quickly changing the scale. Finding themselves in an unpleasant position, the prosecutor's office decides to sent against her Cary Agos – her former college. Cary is still holding a grudge against her and so the law court becomes and arena for more than one battle. In the end the case is resolved in an unexpected way, but the bigger war between Alicia and Cary is far from over.

Another thing that should be mentioned is the fact that Gardner & Lockhart is now merging with another law firm. Will and Diane have a new senior partner, so new alliances are starting to form. Except for Band no new lawyers have been introduced in the premiere. But we get a new investigator – a young attractive man, who soon pairs up with Kalinda as they both are collecting evidences. That sub-plot was really well written, actually. Kalinda, who was previously shown as a lesbian, is kind of attracted to him and that confuses her and makes her angry at him. I suppose that storyline will continue in the next episodes.


So, all in all, it was a fantastic premiere. It set up a few interesting storylines (not all of whom are mentioned in this review!) and contained an exiting murder trail. I am definitely looking forward to episode two!
