Scandal - Season 7 to be the last *Updated with Episode Order*

Update: 29th May 2017 We can reveal that the final season will have 18 Episodes

Update: 16th May 2017 During a conference call on Tuesday to discuss ABC's 2017-18 Primetime Schedule, Entertainment President Channing Dungey confirmed that Scandal's seventh season will be its last.

As yet, neither Dungey nor series creator Shonda Rhimes has confirmed the number of episodes for the final season.

“Shonda has decided the series needs to come to a close, and while this is definitely a bittersweet moment for all of us gladiators, I have no doubt what she has in store for the final season will be as powerful as what’s come before, and we will be sure to honor that every step of the way," Dungey said.

"I always prefer to end a show where you're creatively on top as opposed to letting things fizzle out, and I do think that audiences - especially fans and gladiators who are as loyal to Scandal as they've been - are going to want the story to end in the way that Shonda intends it to. So that was a decision that she felt really good about and we support whole-heartedly."

Although ABC isn’t commenting, multiple sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that Scandal‘s upcoming seventh seventh will be its last. The network is expected to make a formal announcement at its upfront presentation next Tuesday. I’m told series creator Shonda Rhimes made the call to conclude the series and ABC accepted her decision.

The news comes with three episodes remaining in Scandal‘s current sixth season.
