ABC Announces 2017-18 Primetime Schedule *Updated with comments from Channing Dungey*

Channing Dungey spoke with reporters on Tuesday to discuss ABC's schedule. Notable points:
Agents of SHIELD will be taking over Inhumans' Friday 9pm spot once the freshman series completes its eight-episode run.
Both SHIELD and Once Upon a Time will consist of 22 episodes.
Dungey said that she "couldn't be more thrilled" that they are bringing back Quantico for a third season. "I very much believe in [it] creatively. The frustration for me is that it has struggled more than we would like in the ratings but we have talked with [the producers] on what the plans are for season three and we feel very optimistic and excited about it. That said, we did opt for a shorter run of episodes so we can see how it performs for us... I absolutely believe that Priyanka Chopra is a huge star."
Dungey's biggest happy surprise was the Tuesday comedies: "The idea going into the season was that we wanted to have a fourstack and I think that we've definitely had success there. I would also put Designated Survivor into that category... I've been incredibly proud of the storytelling." Conversely, her biggest disappointment was that The Catch's second season reboot "was too late to get the audience to engage in a meaningful enough way to bring that back for a third season."
Scandal's seventh and final season has no confirmed episode count as yet. Shonda Rhimes told Dungey: "I really feel like season seven is where I want to wrap up this story."
On The Gospel of Kevin: "What I love about [it] is that it's a show that really makes you feel. And it's heartwarming, and it's joyful. It also has a procedural component to it which I think makes it easy to dip in and out of it, which I think works at 10pm."
When asked about the cancellation of Last Man Standing perhaps being down to ownership issues, Dungey said: "There are many factors that go into our decision-making process. We look at the hole we need to fill in our schedule, we look at ratings, we look at viewer engagement, buzzwordiness, critical acclaim. Of course, we also look at ownership structure. I don't think we're alone in that as far as networks are concerned, but I think if you look across our slate in its entirety, while we have the bulk of our shows from ABC Studios, we have shows - including comedies - from Warner [Bros.], from 20th [Century Fox], across the board. So I wouldn't say that was the full factor in not bringing Last Man Standing back.
