    —–

    Ratings Analysis:
The Minnesota Vikings at the Green Bay Packers on “Sunday Night Football” led NBC to overnight victory on this first Sunday of 2016. The match-up averaged an estimated 14.8 rating/23 share in households from 8:30-11:30 p.m., peaking in the 9:30 p.m. half-hour with a 15.5/23. Earlier in the evening on NBC was pre-game “Football Night in America” at 7 p.m. half-hour (#4), a 3.1/ 5 at 7:30 p.m. (#4) and an 8.9/14 in the 8 p.m. half-hour (#2).

As a reminder, results for any living sporting event are always estimated.

Football also gave CBS a lift with an approximate 55-minute primetime football overrun at an estimated 15.0/24 in households in the 7 p.m. hour. Individual program results for CBS are all estimated as well and appear as follows:

    CBS/Sunday
    8:00 p.m. “60 Minutes”: 9.7/18 (#2)
    9:00 p.m. “Undercover Boss”: 5.1/ 7 (#2
    10:00 p.m. “Limitless” R: 2.2/ 4 (#2)

There were two sitcom premieres on Fox last night: live action “Charlie Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life” and animated “Bordertown.” “Charlie Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life” was left at the starting gate with a 1.7/ 2 in the household overnights at 8:30 p.m., which was a hefty 41 percent below lead-in “The Simpsons” (#3: 2.9/ 4 at 8 p.m.). One week earlier, an encore of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” scored at 1.8/ 3 in the 8:30 p.m. time period. And “Bordertown” was similarly lackluster at a 1.6/ 2 at 9:30 p.m. (#3), which was 27 percent below lead-in “Family Guy” (2.2/ 3 at 9 p.m.). One week earlier, a repeat of “Last Man on Earth” averaged a 1.2/ 2. While I am the first to tell you that the overnights are not necessarily indicative of anything airing on Fox, initial ratings this low will not bode well in other data streams.

    Earlier in the evening on Fox was a half-hour primetime football overrun (8.9/14 at 7 p.m.) into post-game “The OT” at a 5.2/ 8 (#2) at 7:30 p.m.

In sophomore season premiere news, ABC comedy farce “Galavant” had nothing to laugh about, with a miniscule 1.9/ 3 in the household overnights from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that dipped from lead-in “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (#2: 3.3/ 5 at 7 p.m.) by 42 percent. And it led to two encore telecasts of freshman drama “Quantico” at an average 1.3/ 2 from 9-11 p.m.
