Today's Early Overnight Ratings

This table shows the early overnight ratings. These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. You can find all the final adjusted numbers in our Ratings Database. (See the About section below for details about ratings)

NOTICE As you can see we are trying out a new table format. This will allow us to enter in the Top 25 Markets (if we get them), as well as additional Demo Numbers for those who are interested in them. Let us know what you think of the new table and if you have any suggestions/comments. If this format proves popular we may look to use it for future ratings posts. These new tables should also work better on mobile devices so that you can scroll the table if it does not fit on your device.

Tables being updated live. Please refresh for updates.

Early Ratings Analysis

The analysis below is based on the early household numbers and are NOT the same as the numbers that will be posted in the above table later. (See the About section below)

Ratings Breakdown:
ABC led this final Tuesday of the November 2015 sweeps thanks to the two-hour “Dancing With the Stars” fall season-ender, which averaged a 10.4 rating/17 share in the household overnights from 9-11 p.m. Comparably, this was nine percent above the 9.5/16 for the year-ago fall season-finale, and that translated into 14.75 million viewers and a 2.4 rating/7 share among adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data. Congratulations, Alfonso Ribeiro!

Earlier in the evening on ABC was one-hour “Dancing With the Stars” special, “Road to the Finals”, at a second-place 7.8/12 from 8-9 p.m., which lifted the time period to a season-high. Results for the evening among adults 18-49 (and other key young adult demos) could be neck-and-neck between ABC and NBC. Stay tuned.

Second overall for the night in the overnights was normally dominant CBS with its combination of “NCIS” (#1: 9.8/16), spin-off “NCIS: New Orleans” (#2: 8.5/13), which fits like a glove as expected, and “Person of Interest” (#2: 5.9/10), which held only 70 percent of the 9:30 p.m. portion of “NCIS: New Orleans” (8.4/13).

Over at NBC, “The Voice” dipped by 13 percent from one week earlier with a still potent 6.2/10 (#3) from 8-9 p.m. But 9-10 p.m. Peacock net sitcoms “Marry Me” (#3: 2.5/ 4) and “About a Boy” (#3: 2.2/ 3) both sunk to series lows opposite the increased competition from ABC. “Chicago Fire” perked up to a 3.9/ 7 (#3) from 10-11 p.m., which was a hefty 77 percent above lead-in “About a Boy.” But that was also below average against “Dancing With the Stars.”

Elsewhere, “The Flash” on The CW remains the real deal at a 2.6/ 4 from 8-9 p.m., which was 53 percent above the 1.7/ 3 in the overnights for “The Originals” on the year-ago evening. And it led into a typical 1.5/2 for “Supernatural” at 9 p.m. In other words, The CW was the least impacted opposite “Dancing With the Stars.”

On Fox, demo friendly “MasterChef Junior” dipped by 10 percent week-to-week in the overnights, with a 2.9/ 4 at 8 p.m. And that led into lackluster fourth-place results for 9-10 p.m. sitcoms “New Girl” (2.1/ 3) and “The Mindy Project” (1.7/ 3), which is likely to return next season because more episodes are needed for off-network. Comedies, unfortunately, are just not resonating on any network on Tuesday once again this season.
