Led by an estimated 27.0 rating/41 share from 7-8 p.m. for the San Diego Chargers at the Denver Broncos on an NFL primetime football overrun, CBS concluded the week on a winning overnight note. But the “71st Annual Golden Globe Awards” on NBC, hosted by Tina Fey and newly minted Golden Globe winner Amy Poehler, rose to a seven-year high with a 14.1/21 in the overnights from 8-11 p.m. Comparably, that was up by 8 percent from the year-ago evening (which translated into 19.69 million viewers, based on the live plus same day data) and 21 percent from 2012 (11.7/18). Earlier in the evening on NBC was the “Golden Globes Arrival” special at a 5.5/ 9 from 7-8 p.m.

Leading out of the mammoth NFL primetime overrun on CBS was an 8 p.m. edition of “60 Minutes” at a second-place 11.8/17, followed by “The Good Wife” (#2: 7.3/11) and “The Mentalist” (#2: 6.6/11) from 9-11 p.m., which held up despite facing “The Golden Globes.”

Elsewhere, the results were limited. ABC populated the evening with veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (#3: 3.1/ 5), 8 p.m. special “The Bachelor: Behind the Scenes” (#4: 2.3/ 3), “Revenge” (#3: 3.7/ 5) and “Betrayal” (#3: 2.0/ 3). And Fox aired repeats of “Bob’s Burgers” (#4: 1.4/ 2) and “American Dad” (#4: 1.5/ 2) from 7-8 p.m., followed by “The Simpsons” (#3: 3.0/ 4), “Bob’s Burgers” (#3: 2.5/ 4), “Family Guy” (#4: 3.4/ 5) and “American Dad” (#4: 2.7/ 4) from 9-11 p.m.

About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.

The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).

Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.

Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.

Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
