Tracker - Switchback - Review : Not Everyone Always Works Alone

This second episode of the season was absolutely incredible. I was hooked into the episode right from the jump.

There was such a large portion of this episode that was very creepy, and I loved it because immediately you couldn’t look away. The choice to have the camera show pictures of them from that day was great. And every single photo you could tell had been taken by someone hiding in some shrubbery. The vastness of the space that they were in made it all the more important for them to get out of there.

I am so glad that we got a little bit of an update on Russell and the fact that he has been MIA and not talking to Colter.

You have to be such a great actor to portray the heaviness that has been lifted off of Colter’s shoulder since last season, be predominantly happier and less serious, yet still show when something is making you question what is going on with your family. It makes for such an interesting watch, and some laugh-out-loud moments like when Colter and Randy were going back and forth about how good Randy’s core was.

I loved his dynamic with Becca in this episode. We don’t really tend to get Colter happy to work with anyone whilst searching for people, and we certainly don’t get him opening up to them as they are walking together. I enjoy the fact that Colter seems more open to being surrounded by people rather than being the lone wolf that he predominantly has been since the start of the show.

I knew from the moment that we saw the waitress that she was dodgy, but I wasn’t expecting it to be a two-man job. So when Becca was hit by the brown truck, I was shocked that it wasn’t her. It also kind of made me forget that I was suspicious of her because I was so focused on the conversation between Jack and Colter before he died, and then I thought Colter had found the girl, but it was actually the mother coming to kill her. It was a fantastic deception.

Mel is also looking into her mother’s murder, and it’s quite nice to be able to see the rest of the team going through their own things without Colter. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing them all work together, but it’s nice to delve deeper into some of the team. I also really liked that Reenie chose not to tell Mel that the man working with her mother actually was Mia and not honourably discharged.

I love the way that we are truly getting to see a different side to Colter, and it’s evident why. I do wonder what will happen when he eventually finds out about whatever Russell has been doing. I think we are hopefully going to watch Colter become more and more open to allowing people into his world and not being so closed off.

I am so excited to see where all of the current underlying storylines take us throughout this season. So far, this is an incredible start to the season and possibly two of my favourite episodes of the show so far!
