Somehow, this first episode of season two managed to cram in more cover-up and deception than last season, and I love it.
As per the usual format, we start with our victim being killed; however, this time we actually see the face of the killer, which we rarely ever see as the audience. Having the revelation that the guy is Felix Vincente and that he has killed three CIA members was a great way to pull the story into a more personal battle.
It was quite strange to watch Bill not be with it during this episode; even though it’s only been a short period of time, we have come to know Bill as the reliable, always switched-on person. To see him sort of unravel throughout the episode was so interesting to watch. I think the added layers to the fact that Bill’s dad is dead but also that he was hiding a secret life make it all the more interesting.
Colin kind of took up the role that Bill was lacking in during this episode, and it was quite nice to watch him be there for Bill but also wanting to drive home the point that if he is not fully focused on the job, then he isn’t risking his own life but Colin’s as well.
We spent a large chunk of season one watching Colin and Bill work out who the other one is and how to work best together, but I think despite Bill being off this episode, you could tell that they have hit a pretty good stride with each other.
I really hope that we do have Felix being an overarching issue for the CIA as a whole now that we know that he is still alive, especially as we know that chances are he is going to have it out for Bill and Colin because of how they burned him.
I was quite shocked that Colin went to Nikki requesting the files on Project Palomar, and the fact that it might mean that Bill’s dad wasn’t at all the person he said that he was. Him being in the CIA is a big enough bombshell on its own for Bill, let alone the fact that there might be a bad situation that he was involved in.
For Bill, who prides himself on being a good person and his dad being his hero, I can only imagine that this is going to have a huge impact on bill throughout this season. There are so many unanswered questions, and I’m looking forward to seeing how all of this unfolds as the season continues.
