Best Medicine - Crate Expectations - Review : Fast And Light Wins The Race

Quite frankly, this episode could not have been more predictable regarding the crate storyline; however, that doesn’t mean that I loved it any less. I smiled so much watching this episode, and there were so many moments that I laughed so loudly (namely Eden’s singing).

One thing I love about this show is the fact that I know I’m going to sit down and enjoy the next 45-ish minutes of television. I don’t think anyone could physically watch episodes like this and not laugh. Surprisingly, I didn’t actually hate Martin and Eden being together in this episode. I still don’t want them to be together, but it was really funny watching them bounce off each other and Martin being the one who is a little closer to how the town was.

And him sticking up for her when she wanted to sing was actually quite cute. I think it’s the first time in public that we have seen him get his back up about the fact that Eden isn’t being accepted by the town; however, I do think he is starting to actually care about how the town perceives him. Season one Martin would have just told Eden that the town weren’t people they wanted to try and fit in with anyways.

We only got two scenes between Martin and Louisa this episode, but both of them were so great. Their hug after Martin finished the crate race was so heartfelt and an incredibly tight hug. Anyone who just turned their tv on at that moment would assume that they were together.

Who doesn’t love watching two people having the room disappear as they are singing a karaoke song about wanting to only be with each other? As if that moment wasn’t good enough, though, we got the complete opposite of what just happened with Eden singing the cheesiest song ever. I actually can’t even think about those two scenes of her singing without laughing; they were perfect.

On a side note, Josh Segarra hit an incredibly high and incredibly good note at the end of his karaoke. I was genuinely shocked. And another side note, the funniest line of this episode happens right at the start when Martin says " Even when I knew where the blood was it was challenging" after screaming at the blood in the draw.

I really enjoyed watching Louisa and Mark go back to being good friends rather than at each other's throats since the break-up. Louisa’s date was hilarious; him picking an issue with Louisa’s life, and when she said “now you’re making me be mean,” I lost it. And the fact that Mark had already slept with his date was so funny.

Peter and Sarah were so great together in this episode. I love the relationship between Peter and Martin, but I think I prefer this dynamic. It did break my heart a little bit when Martin opened his arms for Peter to hug him after he got far on the crate race, but he ran right past him to Sarah. I think it’s great that we get to see the grown-ups really root for Peter to do well in everything he does because of how he is treated in school. It really does take a village to raise a child.

Martin running across the crates and winning was honestly perfect, and under the circumstances, is what made it all the better. It wasn’t just because he wanted to run it; in fact, he was literally only running it so that he could help a stubborn patient.

The ending of this episode was really good; we got Glendon having some help because of what he did, and the episode ending with Martin saying “I’m the Goat” was perfect.
