Chicago Fire - Fire House 66 - Reviews : All Severide's Are The Same

I adored this episode, however I absolutely hate budget cuts because this episode could have been made one hundred times better if we had the whole team involved with what was going on. I love squad 3 but both of the main storylines would have been made so much better with more characters from the house interacting with them. For example having Mouch and Herrmann discussing the Pope situation with Capp and Tony and actually seeing Stella’s response to what was going on with Severide/her feelings towards Cruz and Chloe’s news.

As always we have to have someone standing in the ‘heros’ (Severide) way stopping them from getting to their end destination. Already I am not a fan of how vindictive Chief Hopkins is, especially considering he knows absolutely nothing about Benny and Kelly’s relationship.

One thing I always love about the One Chicago shows is that it doesn’t matter how long ago a character may have died, storylines will still bring them back into focus.

I haven’t been a fan of Lucy since she joined a couple of episodes ago and we finally got an explanation of who she is. I doubt that her drunk driving is her only pitfall as her morals didn’t seem too good earlier in the episode either. Within that last conversation with Hopkins she seemed too content with just working for him. I feel that there is definitely going to be some underhanded work that Hopkins is going to make her do during his time at 51.

Cruz’s news came very much out of leftfield, I was truly thinking that he might be about to retire after his near death experience in the crossover. I love that we are getting a new addition to the Cruz family but I can’t help but think about Severide and Kidd. Severide seemed sure that Stella would be happy for them but Cruz’s facial expression said differently. I think, naturally, because who Stella is she will be happy for them, deep down though this will surely affect her on an emotional level given what she and Severide have been through recently.

I do like that we got another Severide central episode and I am really looking forward to seeing how he works around becoming Chief. The good news is that since he came first in the test he should be called up relatively soon, although that depends on what happens with Hopkins.

Overall this was a really great episode but the missing team members were definitely felt, I know this is due to continue but I hope we have it as little as possible.
