It might feel early, but CBS is already looking ahead. The network has become the first of the major broadcasters to unveil its Fall 2026 lineup, well before the current season has even wrapped. And while the schedule still leans on familiar hits, there are some notable shake-ups worth paying attention to.
Big Moves and Major Shifts
Several fan-favorite shows won’t be part of the fall rollout. Ghosts, Matlock, and NCIS: Sydney are all being held for midseason, making room for new and reshuffled programming.
Meanwhile, Elsbeth is getting a promotion, moving into an earlier time slot—now airing at 9/8c. Another shift sees Marshals pulled forward into the fall lineup, rather than being held back.
And of course, CBS wouldn’t be CBS without expanding a franchise.
The network is adding yet another chapter to its most reliable brand with NCIS: New York, set to debut this fall. The series stars LL Cool J and Scott Caan, giving the franchise a fresh setting and some serious star power.
Looking even further ahead, CBS is already developing Flint, a detective drama led by Matt LeBlanc, though that one is being eyed for the 2027–2028 season.
Thursdays Get a Makeover
With Ghosts temporarily off the board, Thursdays are getting a noticeable refresh. Taking its place is Eternally Yours, a new vampire comedy from Ghosts creators Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. It’s a tonal match on paper, but with a supernatural twist that could give the night a different flavor.
Following Elsbeth in its new time slot is Cupertino, a brand-new drama from Robert King and Michelle King (the minds behind The Good Wife and Elsbeth). The series stars Mike Colter and Rachel Keller, marking another collaboration between Colter and the Kings after Evil.
Midseason Additions
Not everything is arriving right away. The dramedy Einstein, starring Matthew Gray Gubler and Melissa Fumero, is being held for midseason—giving CBS another potential boost later in the year.
According to CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach, the goal is simple: keep building on a lineup that already dominates ratings while continuing to introduce new series in strategic ways, and that’s exactly what this schedule feels like.
One thing that hasn’t changed? Fridays. The lineup featuring Sheriff Country, Fire Country, and Boston Blue remains intact.
