What an incredible third episode CIA produced here.
I can’t help but mention Bill’s dilemma first. We are really getting to see him turn from an FBI agent to a CIA operative. Obviously his main objective is making sure that he catches the mole, both for the agency’s benefit and for his own.
It’s quite funny to me that in the first episode it was very cut and clear that Bill was the straight up FBI agent and Colin was the CIA agent who was rarely ever straight up. Now we have them almost switching places, it started a bit last episode but this episode it really changed. Colin was the one who was showing all his emotions on a silver plate and Bill was keeping everything bottled up.
I am incredibly interested to see where this assignment takes Bill, if it’s only been two episodes and we are starting to see a change then how long will it be before the Bill we know is completely gone. If it gets to that point. I have a feeling that his relationship with Colin will make him come back to his senses regardless of his assignment or not. They are already bickering like a true partnership and despite how much neither of them want to get close to each other, I think it is going to be impossible for both of them.
I absolutely loved the side of Colin that we got to see this episode, his tough guy mask fell so quickly when he found out about Nikki being caught. This was the first time that we got to see him openly care about someone that the team were aware of. I really do wonder about Nikki and Colin’s relationship, they definitely seem like they have been through too much together for one to be without the other.
It goes without saying but Necar Zadegan (Nikki) was absolutely incredible in this episode. Up to this point we have only seen Nikki running the show but she was so good in the field in this episode. She never let her guard down and stayed completely cool during the whole debacle. I’m super interested in seeing what else Nikki has up her sleeve.
This was a really intense episode but it was lovely when we got those moments of the core three coming up with a plan to save Nikki. The spitting off of each other was perfect and just goes to show how quickly their bond has and will grow.
The ending of this episode made me want to watch the next episode immediately. The interaction between Colin and Bill was so good. For the first time Colin was being the one who was truthful and Bill was the one who was lying. The grey area is becoming a very easy place for Bill to settle into. Bill’s comment to Jubal on the phone, “I think I’m in” gripped me.
I truly cannot wait to see how this dynamic is going to play out for the rest of the season!
