Empire - You Broke Love & Tell the Truth - Review

Empire's last season is nothing so spectacular. As I will explain in this review of episodes 3 and 4, the story is repeating itself, and we are not happy with it.

In the first episode, "You Broke Love", Lucious is planning his escape from the Feds, and he is about to finalize it. In the meanwhile, Cookie is being held hostage, stop me if you think you never heard this before, by Damon which places her in a troublesome situation.

Andre is also in the same path we are familiar with: he has been haunted by Kingsley that he can't seem to forget. Tiana receives backlash from fans over a social media post and Becky receives a surprising visit from her family.

In the fourth episode, "Tell the Truth", a family occasion brings the Lyons back together, without Jamal, clearly. His absence is felt. As everyone could foresee, no one seems to get along, especially Lucious and Cookie. Lucious is unhappy with how Empire is going.

Meanwhile, Cookie can not handle anymore all this stress and problems, and she is finally considering seeking help through therapy.
Andre encourages Tiana to get over the controversy she created, but it's not easy as he thought. She is willing to defect.

All in all, these two episodes felt a little bit repetitive. It's such a pity that this final season is not giving a proper swan song to the series. If we go back to the great and juicy storylines we had in the first two seasons, you can understand why the show's ratings are lower and lower. There is nothing left to tell.

And you? What do you think of "You Broke Love" and "Tell the Truth"?
