HBO has announced Zendaya will star in its teen drama pilot, Euphoria, per Deadline. The project is based on the Israeli series revolving around drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love, and friendship. Zendaya will play 17-year-old Rue, a drug-addicted, lying girl who will tell this story.
The pilot, to be written by Wizard of Lies scribe Sam Levinson, also has cast Wrinkle in Time star Storm Reid, Maude Apatow, The Last Ship and Grey’s Anatomy alum Eric Dane, Brian “Astro” Bradley, Angus Cloud, Alexa Demie, The Kissing Booth's Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Hunter Schafer and Everything Sucks' Sydney Sweeney. Augustine Frizzell will be the director/executive producer.
