Sneak Peek

EW Interview

Annalise and Olivia are two characters who have done some pretty bad stuff in their lives. Is that something they can bond over or at least recognize in each other?

Yes, I think they both recognize that there’s a lot more beneath the surface. But I do think these are two people who aren’t used to being vulnerable, especially in front of strangers. I don’t think they are going to dive too much into divulging their deepest, darkest secrets. What is interesting is that other people might expose those secrets to them. I think they will both find out a lot more about each other in ways that make them both uncomfortable.

26th February 2017 - Cicely Tyson to Appear

And, from these exclusive set photos, it seems Annalise's mom, played by Cicely Tyson, will be there too.

Deadline Interview with Pete Nowalk on Crossover

DEADLINE: How did the idea about a Scandal-How To Get Away With Murder crossover come about?

NOWALK: At the beginning of the season, my writers and I were planning out Viola’s entire arc and something in her story organically came up that was very appropriate for Scandal. When I went to Shonda, she heard it. I said, we don’t have to do it, Viola’s arc doesn’t need this, but it’s possible that their stories could cross really organically. She actually pulled up a clip of something from Scandal and their side of the story coalesced perfectly. So it was one of those serendipitous things where we both realized it was good for both characters, and it almost felt like we had been planning it since last season.

DEADLINE: I assume that the episodes will be tied together in a two-hour block on the same night, with the story starting on Scandal and finishing on How To Get Away With Murder?

NOWALK: Yes.

EXCLUSIVE: Big news for TGIT fans — I hear that a crossover is being plotted for ABC’s Shondaland drama series Scandal and How To Get Away with Murder to air later this season.

Reps for ABC and the series’ producers ABC Studios and Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland would not comment but Scandal star Kerry Washington just posted a photo of herself as her character Olivia Pope on the set of HTGAWM. (you can see it below)
