EW Interview

It seems April and Ethan’s road is also going to be rather rocky.

The same issue is there in that there’s a power differential: He’s a doctor, she’s a nurse… Very often doctors and nurses have different ideas on how to treat a patient, and that will also come up in one of the early episodes. Again, these two people, they’re really into each other. They have a wonderful, romantic, and passionate relationship but they also have strains. And April’s pretty fiery. He can be a rigid guy, so it’s quite a combination.

THR Interview

Can you elaborate about the effects of Dr. Charles being shot, not only on him but the rest of the hospital?

Schneider: Anybody who is shot is going to suffer some form of PTSD and it also has a ripple effect to close ones. For Sarah, Charles is kind of a surrogate dad. Her own dad abandoned her when she was a little girl and Charles was the one who brought her into psychiatry and has kind of a fatherly relationship with her. For her, almost losing him is emotionally devastating.

11/28/2017 (10:01PM - 11:00PM) (Tuesday) : NATALIE TAKES MATTERS INTO HER OWN HANDS IN DEALING WITH A COMPLICATED PREGNANCY WHILE DR. CHOI AND APRIL TRY TO STRIKE A BALANCE AT WORK- Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) goes to extremely measures to help a fearful pregnant woman whose baby is severely underdeveloped. April (Yaya DaCosta) is angered by Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) when he uses their personal relationship as leverage to convince a patient of a risky procedure. As Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) attempts to balance his personal and professional life, it appears the stress of his current situation may have caused him to make a huge mistake. Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) and Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo) continue to disagree about their psych patients. S. Eptha Merkerson, Marlyne Barrett, Nick Gehlfuss and Norma Kuhling also star. Mekia Cox and Ato Essandoh guest star.
