BBC AMERICA ANNOUNCES PREMIERE DATE AND REVEALS FIRST LOOK PHOTOS FOR KILLING EVE

New thriller starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer and penned by Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge premieres Sunday, April 8

TCA – Pasadena, CA – January 12, 2018 – BBC AMERICA’s newest original series, Killing Eve, starring Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy) and Jodie Comer (The White Princess) and penned by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), will premiere Sunday, April 8, at 8pm ET/PT, it was announced today at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Based on the novellas by Luke Jennings and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, BBCA’s Killing Eve centers on two women; Eve is a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade MI5 security officer whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfill her fantasies of being a spy. Villanelle is a mercurial, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her. Killing Eve topples the typical spy-action thriller as these two fiercely intelligent women, equally obsessed with each other, go head to head in an epic game of cat and mouse.

Co-starring in the series alongside Oh and Comer are Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter, True Blood), who plays Carolyn, a lead MI6 agent, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Downward Dog) as Elena, Eve’s assistant. The cast also includes Kim Bodnia (The Bridge), David Haig (Penny Dreadful), Sean Delaney, and Owen McDonnell (My Mother and Other Strangers).

Sarah Barnett, BBCA President, commented: “In Killing Eve, a genius bunch of women behind and in front of the camera transcend the predictable with this funny and heart-stopping twisted cat and mouse thriller. From creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge – with remarkable performances from Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer – Killing Eve stands out in a sea of scripted stories as refreshingly entertaining and great fun.”

Killing Eve is produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd. for BBC AMERICA with Waller-Bridge serving as lead writer, showrunner and executive producer. Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris are executive producers, with Colin Wratten serving as producer and Sandra Oh serving as associate producer.

Press Release
And we’re rolling! Filming has commenced on BBC America’s all-new eight-part thriller, Killing Eve, penned by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and starring Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy, Sideways) and Jodie Comer (The White Princess, Thirteen). Based on the ‘Villanelle’ novellas by Luke Jennings, Killing Eve follows two fiercely intelligent women — a psychopathic assassin and the woman charged with hunting her down. We can expect this series to be full of sharp humor (Waller-Bridge’s specialty), originality, and high stakes action. Killing Eve is filming on locations including Paris, Tuscany, Berlin and London and will debut on BBC America in 2018.

Curious about said assassin and her hunter? Well, Eve (Oh) is a bored, whip-smart security services operative whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfill her fantasies of being a spy. These two fierce women, equally obsessed with each other, will go head to head in an epic game of cat and mouse, toppling the typical spy-action thriller.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, writer, showrunner and executive producer, said: “I’m hugely excited to have started filming Killing Eve. It’s looking fantastic and our cast, led by the indomitable Sandra and Jodie, are to die for!”

Also joining Oh and Comer are Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter, True Blood) who plays Carolyn Martens, David Haig (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Penny Dreadful) as Eve’s colleague Bill. Further cast includes Kim Bodnia, Darren Boyd, Sean Delaney, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Owen McDonnell.
