02:40 - Superstore - Season 3 - Kelly Stables to Recur

The Exes alumna Kelly Stables is set for a recurring role on the upcoming third season of NBC’s hit comedy series Superstore. Stables will play chipper divorcée Kelly, who’s back in the work force with her new job at Cloud 9. Her quirky optimism grates on Amy (America Ferrera), but she strikes up a fun flirtation with Jonah (Ben Feldman).

02:40 - Suits - Season 7 - Usman Ally to Recur

Usman Ally (Veep) has joined the cast of USA’s drama series Suits. He’ll play Andrew Malik, a new Deputy Attorney General in a recurring role. Ally is coming off recent recurring roles in HBO’s Veep, as the Hook-Handed Man in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and as Gavin in TV Land’s Nobodies. He’ll next be seen in Amazon’s Just Add Magic and YouTube Red’s Lifeline and will return for Season 2 of A Series of Unfortunate Events.

01:30 - Teen Wolf - Season 6A - Gag Reel
Thanks to Ivan for the heads up.

21:55 - Big Little Lies - HBO Hoping for Season 2
Thanks to Jessica for the heads up.

Ever since HBO’s limited series Big Little Lies, executive produced by and starring Nicole Kidman & Reese Witherspoon, became an overnight watercooler hit, talk started about extending the series with a second season. The conversation got even lauder after the series landed sixteen Primetime Emmy nominations earlier this month.

The issue is that Big Little Lies was based on Lianne Moriarty, and there is no existing source material for a second season. But that might change, as Moriarty had been approached and has said that she is open to a second installment.

“I have started to think about ways this could continue,” she said in an April interview. “I wouldn’t write a new book but perhaps a new story, and then we’ll see what happens.”

21:10 - Snowpiercer - TNT Pilot Details Teased

While Bong Joon Ho’s futuristic cult thriller Snowpiercer took place on a train whereby the story advanced car-by-car as the characters moved to the front, that’s not how the drama will go down on TNT’s upcoming TV pilot adaptation or any episode going forward should it go to series.

“It’s a space ship show contained in one environment with a wide swatch of characters,” said Turner Entertainment chief creative officer and TBS and TNT president Kevin Reilly at TCA today.

“It’s an internal pot boiler of various dynamics and an intriguing mystery through the first person. Jennifer Connelly has made her mark, but it won’t (ultimately) take place on a (different) car per episode,” said Reilly.

“She’s stoic and has a very coiled energy and that’s going to work well in this part,” said Reilly about Connelly. The network chief also confirmed that Connelly’s character isn’t the antagonist Mason that Tilda Swinton played in the movie.

20:25 - The Arrangement - Season 2 - Garcelle Beauvais to Recur

Garcelle Beauvais (Spider Man: Homecoming) is set for a recurring role on the upcoming Season 2 of E!’s hit series The Arrangement.

From Universal Cable Productions and Emmy-winning writer/EP Jonathan Abrahams (Mad Men), the series stars Josh Henderson, Christine Evangelista, Lexa Doig and Michael Vartan in a Hollywood love story that brings to life the darker side of fame.

Beauvais will play Mason, a charismatic and intelligent businesswoman with ties to DeAnn’s (Doig) past.

20:25 - You're The Worst - Season 4 - Johnny Pemberton & Brendan Jennings to Recur

Johnny Pemberton is one of two recent additions to YTW‘s Season 4 cast roster, TVLine has learned exclusively. The other is Brendan Jennings, most recently seen on TVLand’s Nobodies. Both Pemberton and Jennings will recur throughout the season.

Pemberton will play Max, one of Edgar’s colleagues on a sketch show. Max is “hip” and “sensitive,” and his flashy Hollywood lifestyle proves very attractive to Edgar. They quickly become friends.

Jennings’ character, Neil, is (stay with us here) the new husband of the ex-wife of Boone, the man Gretchen is dating. (Boone will be played by Eureka‘s Colin Ferguson.) Neil is described as “an uptight beta-male” who has an openly antagonistic relationship with Boone.

02:45 - Midnight Texas - Breeda Wool to Guest

Breeda Wool, best known for playing Faith in the aforementioned Lifetime drama’s first season, will appear in an upcoming episode of NBC’s Midnight, Texas, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Wool will play Bowie, a “regal, formidable angel warrior,” described as a cross between Tilda Swinton and Game of Thrones‘ Brienne of Tarth — and, you know, an angel. As you probably guessed, she has quite a history with Jason Lewis’ angelic Joe; as his former mentor, she hunts him down to find out why he’s decided to abandon their demon-hunting cause. (For the record, Bowie “could care less about mortal humans, but takes her vows to hunt demons very seriously.”)

20:00 - Happy - Medina Senghore Joins Upcoming Syfy Series

Newcomer Medina Senghore has joined the Syfy series Happy!, joining Chris Meloni and Patton Oswalt. The series, which will premiere this fall, follows Nick Sax (Meloni) – an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy (Oswalt). Together, Happy and Nick make the oddest of oddball buddy double acts, and team up to help save a little girl named Hailey who has been abducted.

Senghore joins the show based on the Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel as a series regular in the role of Amanda Hansen, a single mother who shields herself from life’s slings and arrows by building a loving home for her 8-year old daughter, Hailey. When Hailey is kidnapped, Amanda must overcome an inept police force and her own demons to help rescue her.

01:40 - Olive Forever - Tatyana Ali, Malcolm-Jamal Warner & Christian Antidormi Join USA Network Drama Pilot

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alumna Tatyana Ali, Malcolm-Jamal Warner (American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson) and Christian Antidormi (Spartacus: Blood & Sand) have been cast as series regulars opposite Emily Rudd in USA Network’s Olive Forever, a comedic crime drama pilot from Insurgent and The Babysitter writer Brian Duffield, AwesomenessTV and its former CEO Brian Robbins.

Written by Duffield and to be directed by Matt Shakman, Olive Forever follows the exploits of Olive (Rudd), a high school student, con artist, cat burglar and chameleon who’s mature beyond her years. She is a savvy survivor who knows she can “get away with anything.” A foster kid, Olive knows how to work the system, her tough exterior protecting a girl who’s just looking for a home.

Ali will play Alison, Olive’s foster mother, a quick-witted, tender community college professor who strives to guide Olive away from her criminal past. Warner will portray Taylor, Olive’s foster father, an open-hearted community college professor who offers Olive help when no one else would. Antidormi will play a smooth-talking mysterious figure that matches and challenges Olive’s skills.

15:15 - Disenchantment - Matt Groening Animated Comedy Ordered to Series by Netflix
Thanks to Azui for the heads up.

Disenchantment, Matt Groening’s long-gestating adult animated comedy fantasy series for Netflix, is moving forward with an official 20-episode order. The series from The Simpsons creator and Futurama co-creator will premiere in 2018, with the 20 episodes airing over two seasons of 10 episodes each.

Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon and Eric Andre headline the voice cast of Disenchantment. Set in the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, the series will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean (Jacobson), her feisty elf companion Elfo (Faxon), and her personal demon Luci (Andre). Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools. Also voicing characters are John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery.

“Ultimately,” says Groening, “Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”

03:30 - NCIS - Season 15 - Cheryl Texiera to Guest Star

03:30 - MOVIES: Barbie - Anne Hathaway in Early Discussions to Star in Live-Action Adaptation

Anne Hathaway is talking about stepping into the role of Barbie for Sony Pictures, though the studio said “it is premature.” That comes even as its known that Alethea Jones also has been circling to direct after a nod from Hathaway.

Hathaway had been in the mix shortly after Amy Schumer left the project in March. The first big-screen, live-action Barbie film promises to get a huge marketing push from Sony and its partner Mattel in the summer 2018.

The movie is being produced by the husband/wife team of Walter Parkes and Lori MacDonald, along with former Sony studio chairman Amy Pascal (who bought the rights in 2014 while an executive). Mattel’s President and COO of Richard Dickson, who over the past two years has worked to modernize the brand, will serve as executive producer.

Pascal had alluded to talking to an Oscar-winning actress for the role of Barbie in her recent interview with The New York Times, which was no secret around town was Hathaway, but no one knew if the deal would make because of scheduling conflicts. Olivia Milch (Oceans Eight) was brought on to rewrite the script in the hope of getting Hathaway.

If a deal can be made, Hathaway would play a character who lives in Barbieland, where she gets kicked out basically because she’s not perfect enough, is a bit eccentric and doesn’t quite fit the mold. She then goes on an adventure in the real world, and by the time she returns to Barbieland to save it, she has gained the realization that perfection comes on the inside, not the outside, and that the key to happiness is belief in oneself, free of the obligation to adhere to some unattainable standard of perfection.

Veteran voiceover actor Patton Oswalt has been tapped to voice the title role of Happy the Horse in Syfy’s newly picked up series Happy! He replaces Bobby Moyhihan who voiced the character in the pilot.

Happy!, set to premiere in the fall, follows Nick Sax (Chris Meloni) – an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal.

00:35 - Suranne Jones to Star in HBO & BBC Period Drama

Suranne Jones is set to star in Gentleman Jack (fka Shibden Hall), HBO and BBC One’s eight-episode drama series from BAFTA-winning writer Sally Wainwright (To Walk Invisible, Happy Valley). Filming will begin next year.

Set in 1832 Halifax, Gentleman Jack focuses on landowner Anne Lister (Jones) and her determination to transform the fate of her faded ancestral home, Shibden Hall, by marrying well. The story examines Anne’s relationships at home with her family, her servants, her tenants and her industrial rivals; and most importantly, with her would-be-wife, the wealthy heiress Ann Walker.

To restore Shibden Hall to its former glory, Anne must re-open her coal mines and marry well. But Lister – who dressed head-to-foot in black and charmed her way into high society – has no intention of marrying a man. True to her own nature, she plans to marry a woman. And not just any woman: the woman Anne Lister marries must be seriously wealthy.

00:35 - MOVIES: Invasion Of The Body Snatchers - David Leslie Johnson Scripting Remake in Development at Warner Bros.

EXCLUSIVE: Invasion Of The Body Snatchers is coming to a pod near you, courtesy of producer John Davis and Warner Bros. David Leslie Johnson (Dungeons And Dragons, The Conjuring 2) is penning another remake of the classic film — and there couldn’t be a better remake to do. In the 1970s, the last time it was remade with Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams and Kevin McCarthy (who had been in the first remake), the United Artists movie became a political statement about cult leaders and conspiracy theorists in the time when 900 people died at Jonestown. It has those kind of undertones.

The film is based on the 1954 sci-fi novel The Body Snatchers from author Jack Finney. The story takes place in a small town invaded by aliens who plant pods that eventually open to become humans, a copy of those who lived in the town. One by one, each citizen falls prey to these aliens as the pods are dropped alongside their beds, mature as they sleep and then replicate the human as they sleep. The alien humans, which show zero emotion, then start multiplying in the town. This is slowly figured out by a local doctor who tries to stop it, and all the while he (and the audience) never knows who is real and who is an alien ready to kill.
