iZombie - Eat a Kinevel - Review: Misconstructed

I have so many issues with this episode I don't even know where to start. Eat a Knievel was a setup episode and I didn't like it at all. The episode was by Josh Bellina and directed Michale Wale.

The only really positive development that I can take from this episode is the Liv-Justin date. The two of them have great chemistry and I like how Justin is adaptable to all of Liv's brain crazy. Their date with the whole Max Ranger drinking and throwing those pointy things up was really sweet. Still, the highlight of the episode involved Justin facing repercussions for his actions by the faithful hand of Chase Graves, played by none other than Jason Dohring. Chase entrance into the iZombie world was a spooky one, he was really scary and intimidating. Can't wait to see how his arc will develop from here, but shooting Justin into the stomach was a solid start.

This week's case of the week was utterly boring and lazy written. I've mentioned in last week's review I'm not a fan when iZombie goes full procedural but they usually do a solid job in writing the cases and making them as interesting as possible. This week was neither. Liv on prank brain had its stellar moments but couldn't really shine a light on the boring story they've to choose. I didn't find the pranks funny or appreciate the whole attitude or appropriate for a show like iZombie. The whole I've killed my prankster boss cause he knocked up my girlfriend just to prank me felt forced and predictable.

Sadly no Peyton this week either and no interaction between Liv and Major. I feel annoyed that they've just dropped their storyline and that they've pushed them into different directions. Their chemistry is one of the strongest on the show and just abandoning it time after time is a move I can't relate to. And it isn't only Liv and Major's interaction that is cut to the bare minimum. No Major and Ravi scenes either. I loved them interacting throughout first two seasons.

The episode ended with Liv and Ravi trying to infiltrate the Zombie hater ranks but with only Ravi getting in as the haters turned out smarter than they've seemed initially. I did enjoy seeing Rose with her natural hair pretending to be normal and Ravi's children names, how ridic were those.

Meanwhile, Blain's story felt like the writers decided to play one and the same song and a bunch of its remixes the whole time. The writers are really wasting the amazingness of Robbert Kneeper on some repetitive and pitty father son stories. Blaine turning back into a Zombie was a major buzzkill and felt truly unnecessary. I would rather have the writers kill off Blaine than continuing this draining storyline. Playing with Blaine's character certainly had to be

I'm cutting this review short as I don't wanna rant in a bad way about a show that I genuinely like. But what are your thoughts on Eat a Kinevel? Am I exaggerating or do you share the same opinion of the episode as I do? The comment section is wide open for you so feel free to share your thoughts on Eat a Kinevel down below.
