Ruby Adair - Town sheriff. Was married to Deke for more than 30 years. Mother of Ellie, grandmother of TJ. A tough woman with a temper, a habit of drinking and putting her job first.
Tag Fayad - An attractive FBI agent. He's a Persian Muslim. Was sent to work with Ruby after he was caught having sex with the wife of his bureau chief. Doesn't believe in love, monogamy or marriage.
Joe Paul - A tough deputy who works with Ruby. He calls things as he see's them and isn't too fond of Tag.
Jennifer - A beautiful 21 year old that takes a liking to Tag. Her beauty makes her a target for the darker side of the town.
Deke - Ruby's ex-husband. Father of Ellie, grandfather of TJ. Is with a new woman named Randa who is pregnant.
Ellie - Ruby and Deke's daughter. Due to a dark event in her past she left home. That same event caused Deke to walk out on Ruby.
Miss Bo - Runs the local whorehouse which is frequented by the men, both married and single. A vital source of information in a town with so many secrets.
Kareena - A girl who went missing. Her right arm is later found during a fishing trip.
