Interview 3
Thanks to Ivan for the heads up.

As suggested during the midseason finale, “He is trapped in another place,” co-showrunner Jed Whedon noted during a recent set visit, “which usually means that he’s not dead.”

The Marvel series instead bid Robbie Reyes adieu, for the time being at least, lest it stretch a good idea too far. “[Ghost Rider is] a lot for 22 [episodes], especially with everything else that we like and care about on the show,” said EP Jeffrey Bell. “It would feel like one flavor over a long period of time, but we’ve certainly left it open” to revisit.

The producers also admitted that “financial considerations” played a role in snuffing Ghost Rider’s flame. After all, telling the story of LMDs (or Life Model Decoys), as played by Mallory Jansen and now Ming-Na Wen, “doesn’t cost as much” as setting a guy’s head on fire via CGI, Bell quipped.

“Broken Promises” – Though Coulson and May are growing closer, Coulson remains unaware of the dark secret May is hiding beneath the surface. Meanwhile, Aida is unrelenting in her search for the Darkhold, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, JANUARY 10 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EST), on the ABC Television Network.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie and John Hannah as Holden Radcliffe.

Guest starring are Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez, Jason O’Mara as Director Jeffrey Mace, Mallory Jansen as Aida, Parminder Nagra as Senator Nadeer, John Pyper-Ferguson as Terrence Shockley, Manish Dayal as Vijay Nadeer, Patrick Cavanaugh as Burrows, Blaise Miller as Agent Nathanson, Shari Vasseghi as Sunjna Nadeer and Bryan Keith as Zack Bynum.

“Broken Promises” was written by Brent Fletcher and directed by Garry A. Brown.

Interview 2
Thanks to Ivan for the heads up.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Robbie sacrifices himself to take down Eli. Does he feel heroic in that sense?

GABRIEL LUNA: Yeah, he makes a really great heroic choice, and he makes it while in a form that usually has all the power. So that’s really, really cool. I’m really excited to see how that plays out. It’s a first for us, in terms of story, actually seeing a decision being made while Robbie isn’t Robbie. That is pretty special.

Robbie’s fate is left ambiguous. Is there a possibility that you could return to the show?

At Comic-Con, I had been asked that question a lot, considering the response has been what it has been. I’m very proud of my crew, the cast, all of us, for helping build this character because they seem to really love it. I’m not too worried about it being finite at this point.

Poster & Interview

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: To get this straight, the real Agent May is behind that locked door, and an android version is with Coulson?

How long has the Robo-May been in the field? Since May essentially went crazy?

JED WHEDON: That will unspool, but there are many stops to the process of being able to make one. That will unspool later.

Why has AIDA planted a robot version within the team, and why May in particular?

WHEDON: I’ll just say that you’ll know that in the first episode coming back.
