Speechless - B-O-N-BONFIRE - Review: A lot of Kanye and Love for Trash

"B-O-N-BONFIRE" was another extremely well-executed instalment of Speechless. The show does an amazing job in involving each character in new stories and we discovering more about them.

Quick Recap:

- JJ made some cool new friends at school but couldn't attend the upcoming Bonfire. When Maya saw her son being all sad about it, she decided to meddle and cancel the Bonfire altogether. Maya tried to fix the mess she made but only made things worse and all the people openly started resent JJ for the cancellation of the Bonfire. Of course, Maya eventually found a solution and made people care for JJ again.

- Ray continued to seek for a normal life after the DiMeos moved all the trash from their old home to their new home. Ray was a tidbit ashamed cause of the way they live. Jimmy reasoned with his son and decided to redecorate the house making it nice to look at. Later he and Ray went for a ride and saw some trash on the side of the street and couldn't fight their habits and took it. Seconds later they discovered the stuff belonged to a student about to move to college.

- Dylan lost her inspiration for running after Kenneth pointed out she is running only cause JJ can't. This shooke-up sweet Dylan's world and pushed her into depression.

What worked:

- Cedric Yarbrough's Cedric. From crushing Dylan's running aspiration to fangirling about the high school friends JJ made, Cedric delivered every single line. Especially the scenes that included the popular school boys.

- Maya's new word board for JJ, including terms like Kanye, Kris Jenner and B*tch.

- The Maya-Dr. Miller scenes. Even though it were just 2 this week they were more than enough to make me laugh really hard.

- The Jimmy-Ray storyline. It was really a nice build up and the story peaked emotionally and humor wise. It made the bond between father and son grow even stronger. The quote of the week comes from Jimmy, so many emotions and truth:

Because, all this stuff, other people's opinions it's nothing. You know what's not nothing? When The doctor tells you that something is wrong with your kid.

PS. Kudos to Out Of Curiosity for noticing this and sharing in yesterday's Rating's post comment section and therefore raising an intriguing mystery over this comedy.

- Ray's awkwardness. Every week they find a new way to incorporate it into the show and it was really hilarious. I laughed so hard when it was revealed that the stuff Ray and Jimmy stole belonged to one of Ray's classmate sister and that his crush was present as well.

- Dylan's dilemma. I really enjoyed how simple but hilarious they portrayed her struggle with inspiration. Kayla was so sweet and seeing her crushing her fellow sprinting friend's inspiration was adorable.

What didn't work:

- Using JJ as a pushing machine during their move. I know the show didn't intend to be insensitive but I felt a condescending tone in Maya's voice I didn't like at all.
