Episode 2.01 airs 4th September at 9pm, below are a few teasers to see you through until then. If you want to have a go at guessed who said what, I will fill in any correct answers before TX. And please don't forget to come back to vote in our poll after you have seen the episode and let us know what you thought.

The original Ross Poldark (Robin Ellis) has the first words of this season as the action picks up almost directly on from the end of last year, with our Ross facing Judge Halse after being arrested for his part in the rioting during the shipwreck.

“Though Ross would never gamble away his most precious asset would he. He is too wise and clever”

“Oh you own me, I acknowledge that. And my indebtedness to you has long muddied the water between us, so I trust that any confusion about my feelings, is now, entirely cleared up”

“I told you that charge would not stick. Cousin Matthew was dead before he washed ashore. Poldark merely found him”

Young Julia Poldark has not been forgotten, and Demelza’s song – I’d Pluck a Fair Rose for my Love – has been used beautifully as a part of her way of remembering her.

“I want the best advice, and I’m willing to pay for it. What is your fee? Or, perhaps you do not know your trade well enough? Perhaps you should leave, we’ll call someone else”

“Name is Tankard, acting for the crown in case of Wrecks verses Poldark. What do you recall the night of the shipwreck?”

If there were any doubts that George Warleggan is one of the most dastardly villains written before now, you will be convinced by the end of this episode of his pure malevolence. Jack Farthing plays the scoundrel with such utter contempt and dishonest scheming that I am genuinely concerned for those his character has set his sights on.

“I do not! And nor do may I say do you! Quite pasty faced. Consequence of sitting too long indoors fingering coin”

“If he is a sensible man, he will seek assistance, of the words and ears of those that matter”

“I wanted to speak with you first. To ask if some help might be given when you come to court. I hope that you will take the gesture with the kindness with which it is intended”

“And the people on the beach that day, shall we pretend that they were not desperate. Should we explain that starvation and poverty are also relative?”
