New Girl - Episode 5.13 - Review: "Sam Again"

Jess takes a new job at a "progressive" new school where the principal is dating her ex-boyfriend, Sam. Meanwhile, Schmidt quarantines the roommates in preparation for a meeting at work so that he doesn't contract anything. "It's either a puppet show for kids or propaganda for North Korea." Jess meeting Sam was about as awful as you can imagine as was her reaction to if she had feelings. I understand remembering the good times, but why did Jess immediately freak out over Sam? The scene at his house was painful to watch and all around awkward.

I would love to hear what you guys thought of this episode. It was an extremely awkward episode to sit through and I just didn't get why Jess couldn't get over Sam. She should have just left and accepted the job. It wouldn't have been awkward if she just let it go. None of it made sense to me. Nick apologizing to Sam and antagonizing him, why? "Say the word BEARD!" Sam's plot line was terrible; it added nothing to the plot and makes Jess and Nick look like the villains of the story by mingling in his affairs. I actually agreed with how Sam reacted to Jess bringing brownies. Shrugging off being a terrible person is not funny. In addition, the gang's side plot line fell through and had nothing to follow-up on, it was just kind of there. Hopefully things get back on track with the Schmidt/Cece wedding planning next week. This episode just fell flat to me. Comment below with your thoughts on the episode and tune into New GirlTuesday's at 8/7 central.
