Episode 615

Last week we were treated to a two-episode return. This week Maura is still suffering from her ordeal. Jane feels frustration at being left out of the investigation. A murder is not what it seems and Nina proves she really is a badass.

We open up with a woman tied to a chair in what looks to be some kind of warehouse blindfolded and gagged. She is screaming for attention. Someone approaches in a scarecrow type mask and is about to attack her when a woman comes in and fights off her attacker and frees her. What is shocking is the supposed victim is smiling when her attacker manages to come back and attack the woman before she leaves. What we see is the woman has been killed her.

Jane Rizzoli ( Angie Harmon) and Dr Maura Isles( Sasha Alexander) are at the dirty robber where Jane is telling Maura she will be stuck at Frankie’s as she has cancelled the deal on her new condo. She doesn’t want anyone near her to gets hurt in any more fires. Maura has the perfect solution for Jane a friend with a townhouse near her is off on sabbatical and he will sublet Jane his townhouse. As its owned by the University he works at so its insured but Jane, while happy to be near Maura, also points out she is near her mother, who approaches. Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco) who, not snooping, has found a ring in Korsak’s desk draw. Seems Korsak hasn’t given up on marriage even though he has had a few goes and looks like he is going to ask Kiki to marry him. Our girls are called to a crime scene while Angela struggles to get the ring off.

They arrive at the crime scene; Jane seems distracted while Maura thinks its great Korsak is getting married. Jane doesn’t want things to change. Korsak has always been there for her.
They both are quiet as they approach Korsak (Bruce McGill) but soon it is Maura showing signs of discomfort seeing the restraints used. Jane says they can get Kent in but Maura reassures them she is ok. Frankie(Jordan Bridges) seems to have found something and another room reveals more restraints and what appears to be blood.

The victim, Daniella Gibb has a criminal record only a few minors in Atlanta. They can’t find any address or ties to Boston. Jane leaves Frankie to call Atlanta PD while she notices Nina( Idara Victor) and Korsak talking.
Korsak is asking Nina if she has heard from her hacker friend, she tells Korsak he seems to have discovered the hackers signature. Nina sent it to the FBI to see if they have a link to this hacker. Korsak tells Jane, who of course wants to know, that now it’s not an urgent Kidnapping its investigation and Jane being involved could jeopardise any case they build. So basically, she needs to keep out, news that Jane doesn’t like hearing. Nina does have something to share with Jane. A digital key found at the scene and through the serial number they have tracked the owner.

Jane and Korsak go to interview the owner who is a Banker but he was there due to a Fear club at the warehouse.Yes, it seems people pay to get scared. Not a new concept but certainly a more saw like quality than most haunted houses.

Back at BPD Maura has some information for Jane proving not all reddish brown stains are blood but this was faux blood. This matches what Jane has been told. As Jane says there is enough scary stuff out there in real life. Maura asks about the hacker but Jane tells her she is being kept out of the loop, which she is still frustrated about. Jane asks about the victim, no evidence under the fingers, Maura tells her it was a dull weapon and driven in with a great deal of force. There was a chemical compound on the wound which she has sent off to be tested. No drugs or Alcohol but the liver showed the victim was a heavy drinker and another female's DNA was found on the restraints.

Frankie and Korsak interview the banker who doesn’t recognise the victim. He gives them the website and password to the club.

A young girl (Avery Grace Sehorn) is selling raffle tickets to Nina when Jane arrives. Jane once again is told by Nina she can’t include her, which again frustrates Jane who tells her the kid conned her ( nice cameo by Angie’s daughter and we see more of her later. I noticed in this scene how she smiles when Nina calls her a sweet girl ).

Nina tells Korsak the FBI got a hit but they have no name but think the same person is responsible for a lot of hacks. Tracing it back to the oldest Hack she has a name of the victim. Korsak wants Nina to talk to her but Nina is reluctant to go out in the field and explains about her boyfriend getting shot on her beat. Korsak encourages her to get from behind the desk.

Frankie hasn’t found anything yet from the fear club website but has asked to be invited to their next gathering. He gets in and a ghostly face pops up scaring Korsak and Jane. (I wonder if they knew about it before hand as they all jump well and you can still hear Bruce McGill cursing in background).

Frankie is going undercover but there are metal detectors so he has to leave his gun but they fit him with a plastic ear piece. Maura arrives and tells them about the test results from the stab wounds. Seems it was plastic, probably a prop. As long as there are no spiders Frankie will be happy.

Nina interviews the hacker victim, it seems she was hacked and all her personal information was put out there. She believes she knew who it was but the police couldn’t do anything as they had no proof. She believed it was a guy who kept asking her out she told him to leave her alone and a week, after all, her emails were released. She remembers his name, Riley Keating.

Jane is making arrangements to view the townhouse when she sees the little con artist again but before she can find her she has disappeared.

Frankie enters the location of the latest fear club event while Korsak is outside. He soon locates the owner who promises to help in any way he can, seems the victim Danielle was his partner but he thought when they couldn’t find her after the last one she had left on a bender.

Angela walks into Maura’s and notices her reading PTSD literature. We know from when she was kidnapped that Angela cares a great deal for Maura and she tells her so and she can talk to her.

Korsak tells Jane they have spoken to the actors the night of the murder no one stands out. Nina has run all the email addresses from the fear club. One of the addresses is connected to a restraining order. The victim of the order is a school teacher and who the order was against is supposed to live in Philadelphia.

Jane goes to interview her but notices Korsak and Nina talking before she leaves.
Nina tells Korsak she thinks she has found the hacker and he lives in Boston.

The school teacher, yes she was the woman smiling, now realises it wasn’t for the scare but, in fact, a murder was taking place. Seems the restraining order was against a former employee Gus Brooks, who she learned lied on his application so was fired. He got very angry when she got the order but she says he moved to Philadelphia and sent her letters from anger management class to apologise. They tell her they are going to leave an officer outside.

Nina and Korsak bring in the hacker.

Frankie has done some digging about Brooks but his alibi is only he was home alone.

Nina and Korsak interview the hacker, he doesn’t seem to know anything about Jane's hack but they are not fooled and though they can’t connect him to Jane they can to the stalker hacks. Jane is watching from the other side of the glass and Maura joins her. The hacker, Riley Keating, has no connection and seems too young to be the mastermind. Like Maura states whoever Joe Harris was on the phone to, he had a personal connection. Someone hired the hacker. Maura is confident they will find out whom.

Jane and Maura are discussing the townhouse. Frankie has found a second email for the fear club sent to the teacher but to a different email address. Jane remembers seeing a 3 D printer there. They now believe someone at the school could be responsible. Maura confirms the plastic in the wound could have come from a weapon made in the printer. Frankie and Maura head to the school.

Maura comes across Kiki, as we all know Maura it trying not to let anything slip and dives in the elevator.
Maura “I really can’t talk to you, I mean I can’t talk to anyone, just busy, busy, girl”

The guy with the scarecrow mask arrives looks like a knife isn’t the only thing he cut in the 3d printer. It is Gus Brooks, seems Anger management hasn’t been working.
Jane calls and hears her scream, they arrive and the cop protecting her is lying unconscious but alive in the hall. Jane and Frankie check the building and Jane shots scarecrow before he stabs Frankie. They find the teacher terrified in the cupboard, no more fear club for her I think.

Jane also locates the young con artist who is trying to sell tickets to Angela, yes she does look familiar.

The gang round things off with drinks at the Dirty Robber that finally include Nina. They are giving Korsak tips on how to propose but he slips away as Kiki arrives and asks her to which she responds yes ( I have seen pictures we do get a wedding ).Jane also tells Maura she took the townhouse.

This was a solid episode of Rizzoli and Isles with the continuation of the arc weaved in nicely throughout the episode. Maura's hair has returned so we can assume she had it fixed( extensions, of course, we all know Sasha wore a wig) as it appears little time has passed since the kidnapping.
