New Girl - Episode 5.7 - Review: "Wig"

In this episode of New Girl, Winston tries to help Reagan deal with a break-up while a sex-starved Cece and Schmidt make up a lie (i.e., Reagan has a wig) to distract Nick. The overall setup was perfect New Girl. The gang was split into their respective groups and Megan Fox was the proxy for Zooey Deschanel's Jess with being used on both sides of the story line.

Winston playing "Coach" was a fun way to display Reagan's weakness. I asked to show more of Reagan's character in last week's initial review and I'm glad to see the writers trying to flesh her out as a full character and not just a cliche. On the opposite end, it's been kind of hard to see Nick act so flabbergasted by Reagan in the apartment. It's been established that Nick isn't the best when it comes to dating, but for every scenario where Nick learns how to manage his love life, there is a misstep along the way that makes him out to be incompetent. "She's a goddess that has descended from the heavens and I'm just a mud-man from the bowels of Chicago." Nick doesn't give credit where credit is due so I hope his approach to having Reagan on a pedestal is broken soon.

"You ordered a Shirley Temple...it's a Virgin Denzel." Winston 's approach to dumping Reagan's fling totally backfired on his plan to walk out unscathed. Meanwhile, Reagan let it be known that she searched the gang's rooms before she fully moved in at the same time Winston and Camilla showed up at the loft. Cue the fireworks. Reagan stated that she didn't want to hurt Camilla's feelings, but in the end, realized that it was the right thing to do. Overall I thought it was a good episode that brought more life to Megan Fox's character, if in the end, it wasn't the funniest episode to date.Comment below with your thoughts on the episode and tune into New Girl Tuesday's at 8/7 central.
