Hutton and O’Keefe’s When the Street Lights Go On screenplay ranked second on the 2011 Black List behind The Imitation Game. A few months later, Anonymous Content came on board to produce the feature with documentary helmer Brett Morgen (The Kid Stays in the Picture) set to direct. Morgan is still attached and will direct the pilot. He, Hutton and O’Keefe (Shangri-La Suite) executive produce alongside Anonymous Content’s Chad Hamilton, Tariq Merhab, Michael Sugar and Steve Golin.
The streaming service is near a deal for a pilot pickup to Citizen, from Me and Earl and the Dying Girl director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon and Blood and Oil duo Josh Pate and Nicholas Schutt, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From Paramount Television and Anonymous Content, the comedy is described as a fresh take on the hero origin story. It blends elements of magical realism and gritty vigilantism and is set against the backdrop of a vibrant, "supernaturalized" Los Angeles.
Gomez-Rejon, Pate and Schutt created the concept and will pen the script as well as exec produce alongside Anonymous Content's David Kanter, Matt DeRossand Steve Golin.
