Limitless - Headquarters! - Review: "Hilarious!"

Previously on Limitless...Brian helped rescue Naz's daughter. And he doesn't want her to forget it. Also, Casey and Rebecca were an item a while back, and he returns in this episode. Lots of great continuity from this show.

What a fantastic, hilarious introduction. I could not stop laughing. Brian desperately wants Naz to give him a headquarters! to work with, and she keeps denying his requests. That is, until, Brian offers to track down and capture the FBI's Top 10 Most Wanted criminals. An amazing premise for an episode! He shows Naz how he found criminal #4, and she's on board. This guy was sending letters to Taurus, another criminal from a previous episode. Did I mention the fabulous continuity on this show yet? "That's one down, nine to go!". And then he shoves the clay effigy in a shredder. That was awesome. Cue the extremely epic opening theme song!!! "There are laws on space and time that you just seem to be blowing off." Tell that to Hiro and Noah from Heroes: Reborn, Rebecca! Anyway, Brian proposes that him and Rebecca draft a team, a special unit, to work together to find the other nine criminals. The "Brian Finch and Rebecca Harris Amazing Major Crime Squad" consists of many familiar faces, including Boyle, Mike, Ike, and Casey. Most of their meetings were just arguments about the name, and the second Brian brought up their nickname, the "Bruntouchables", Boyle was ready to leave. Brian made a very comical video for the meeting, and then apologized to Rebecca when he made it sound like they were only going to catch men.

Brian and Rebecca started delegating assignments to the team. Might I add that Rebecca's hair looked stunning in these scenes? Next, Mike and Ike got their assignment, to which Brian exclaimed, "Alright, the boys are here!" I liked that very much. Brian tries to give Boyle a different assignment than the one he wanted, and Boyle looked so offended. That was great. Brian and Rebecca have a nice scene in the car, followed by another great scene - Brian's family coming over for dinner to his place. Brian's relationship with his dad was always so interesting to me, and it's part of what drew me into the show in the first place. When Brian realized his dad was only being awkward around him, it made me feel very sad. Brian playing with that squeezey toy made me laugh. Mentioning Bill Gates and Katy Perry's twitter fame (among others) was very clever, and one of Katy's followers said she spotted a man matching one of the Top 10's descriptions. Twitter - it helps you catch criminals. The intense music started picking up when Brian and Rebecca infiltrated this guy's apartment. You really felt like something was going to happen, and it did. This guy tweeted Brian to get out of his apartment, and he had a camera with a live feed set up. Jeez, criminals can be really smart.

The resort that Mike got sent to? Looks pretty sweet, and clothing is "optional". Thanks to some shaky cam, the team back at home saw more than they wanted. But hey, Brian, you'd totally screw Mike, remember? It shouldn't be that gross to you! Meanwhile, Ike is freezing his butt off in Greenland. Brian mentions that he has a new nemesis, and Boyle reminds him that they got their butts handed to him by this guy. This would be a great time to mention that Boyle's sass levels are off the charts! "You guys got a plan to pick up his scent?" Do you know Brian at all? He's literally going to to pick up his scent now! Now it's time for the synthesia portion of the episode; where someone mixed their senses with colours. Brian's flashback to how he knows what this is was super funny. Yet again, the animations on this show are top notch. I actually felt like we were Brian's neurons switching from his normal senses to synthesia. And when he saw Rebecca look purple-y, I laughed. "I would've just guessed that you were something a little tougher." "Why? What colour am I? Am I pink? I'm not pink, am I?" That was amazing! And the next scene is a sweet one between Boyle and Casey.

Boyle and Casey called Rebecca and asked her to call for some backup. She went, and Brian stayed because they couldn't afford to lose his 'nemesis'. He started to think about what they were doing, in a FANTASTIC, fighting, dream sequence. Did you think I was missing something when I said everything on this show is being done right? This includes the stunt work - great stuff going on here. Brian went into this guy's hotel room and filtered through pictures on his wall in a Chuck style of flashing. Lawrence walked into the room, uh oh! Brian's 59% sure he's innocent, though. This should be good. Lawrence is staying with Brian at his place, that is until his sister, Rachel, stops by and says they "need to talk". Oh dear, mixing work and family problems is never a good idea. It's even worse when she came over to use his bong and raid his surround sound TV system. Brian mentions how he's trying to talk to his dad, but he keeps sending him to voicemail. Rachel found this very funny. Back to Ike, he's worried that the people he's staying with will resort to cannibalism. Brian assures him that they had food there, however, Ike is "delicious looking". I swear, I'm not making this stuff up. Really, I'm not. This isn't fanfiction, this is from a televised script. Boyle and Casey caught their criminal, and Brian told Boyle not to pretend like he's not having fun. We got a few smirks from him here and there.

Brian's trying to build an elevator to space, but "keep in mind, he's not on NZT". Brian wants to put his nemesis (who isn't really his nemesis anymore, so I'll just call him Lawrence now) on NZT. What a crazy idea! Man, this show is amazing. Another thing I haven't been really picking up on, but is really, really neat is that the colours in the room change when Brian (or someone else) is on NZT. That's wicked cool! Ha, and now Lawrence has clones on himself talking to him, just like Brian! Phenomenal! Lawrence can figure out who really killed his wife now. He needs something to work with, and Brian tells him he's in the right place if he wants some clay. The real criminal confessed because he was promised a dozen bagels a week. This show is real. And Naz, did you say, Judge Carpenter? Any relation to Jennifer Carpenter? Haha. Naz came through and got Brian his headquarters (no exclamation point. Actually, it was just H.Q.). Stavros, the janitor, made Bruntouchables shirts for everyone. Loved that scene! Now it's time for the talk with his dad. He's revealing some things that truly make me believe that him and Neal Caffrey from White Collar have worked together at some point. "I would suffer for you, I would die for you. You're my son, you're my Brian." Damn. Brian finally told him about the drug, and it fades to white. Best scene of the episode! Wow, what a tearjerker.

EDIT: How about those post-credits sequences? Amazing, no?

What else can I even say about this episode? It was thrilling! A great central plot, more of this amazingly witty writing, acting, and directing. Great music too. Everything was stellar, so this episode absolutely gets an A+.
