The Muppets – Bear Left Then Bear Write – Review:“The best hour so far”

The Muppets' third episode is easily the best hour, so far. I enjoyed this episode more than the previous two. But Bear Left Then Bear White still does not improve the show's weaknesses. The Muppets hasn't found a proper dimension and it's still confusingly hybrid. It has its moments but I cannot avoid to repeat that it is not funny enough. It has lost nearly half of its following, what is the problem?

The third episode focus on Kermit who is trying to avoid to hurt Fozzie's feelings after he writes a terrible sketch for the show. He inadvertently convinces him to quit and pursue a career as a screenwriter. Miss Piggy is humiliated when former ABC's Samantha Who star's Christina Applegate ruins her on-air and plans to prank her back with Scooter's help. Gonzo uses Hunger Games' Liam Hemsworth's picture on a dating website leading to complications when his online girlfriend Debbie wants to meet him in person.

I always love this show's use of guest stars. I really enjoyed this week's Christina and Liam in their "roles". There were several hilarious moments. But I felt that something is still missing. All these funny sketches with the guest stars don’t create a sense of continuity. They really need to improve the characters' dynamics. I believe that the ratings are suffering from this worrying lack of focus: it has lost almost half of the pilot's audience. Why? In time like these, fewer and fewer are watching broadcast TV. Writers don' t have time to find their own narrative dimension, because each error can cost a cancellation.

Let's hope this is not The Muppets' case because it has an infinite potential, they just need to use it.

What do you think of Bear Left Then Bear White?
