    When Elementary returns this fall, Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) will be dealing with the aftermath of his relapse in last season's finale. One of the consequences? His father Morland Holmes, played by John Noble, is coming to New York to check up on his son.

    Morland is an international consultant who has a lot of power and has amassed a considerable fortune. "He's someone who works from the shadows to help various governments and mega-corps and titans of industry make moves around the globe," creator Rob Doherty tells TVGuide.com. "He has the ear of many important and wealthy and influential people. He has a personality that's very appropriate to that kind of work and those kinds of worlds: He's very stern, very calculating, extremely bright -- but that's probably not a big surprise. Like Sherlock, he's typically a few moves ahead of the people he works with and then [is] able to predict certain behaviors.

    Showtime's Shameless is expanding its world.

    The dark dramedy from showrunner John Wells has enlisted Ever Carradine for its upcoming sixth season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

    Carradine (24, Major Crimes) will play Erica and appear in a four-episode arc. Erica is described as an exhausted, nice, suburban mother in her late 30s with terminal cancer. Later, we learn that she has a secret wild past.

    Kate Hudson is replacing Rebel Wilson to voice one of the new characters in Kung Fu Panda 3, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

    Wilson was due to voice Mei Mei, a crazy ribbon-dancing panda (the movie series’ first female panda lead) who is romantically obsessed with Po.

    Insiders say the production schedule became extended, forcing Wilson to bow out.

  • 00:00 - Showtime Pilot ‘I’m Dying Up Here’ Casts ‘Me And Earl And The Dying Girl’ Star
    Rising young actor RJ Cyler, who played Earl in indie darling Me And Earl And The Dying Girl, is the first regular cast in the hourlong Showtime dark comedy pilot I’m Dying Up Here. This marks the first series regular role for the 20-year-old who is on a peculiar streak, landing his career breaks on projects with “dying” in the title.

    Written and executive produced by former stand-up comedian Dave Flebotte, executive produced by Jim Carrey and directed by Jonathan Levine, I’m Dying Up Here is is set in L.A.’s stand-up comedy scene of the 1970s. Cyler will play Adam, a struggling comedian willing to do anything — anything — to make it.

    Michael Aguilar and Christina Wayne also executive produce the pilot, from Endemol Shine Studios and Assembly Entertainment, which is based on the nonfiction book by William Knoedelseder.

    Cyler, who has a recurring role on Danny McBride’s upcoming HBO comedy series Vice Principals, is repped by JLA Talent and Landis-Simon Management.

    The project explores the question: What do you do when your wife dies, leaving two kids to raise and you haven’t a clue how to do it? Simple – follow the instructions she left for you in a book.

    Savel and Sullivan will write the pilot, an adaptation of Sullivan’s screenplay of the same title, and executive produce with Zadan and Meron. Storyline’s Tasha Brown and Mark Nicholson, who developed the project at the company, also will serve as producers through Universal TV, where Storyline is under a three-year deal.

    Zadan and Meron are in rehearsals on NBC’s live holiday production of The Wiz and are in production on NBC’s alternative comedy series Better Late Than Never. Savel is repped by APA, manager Sheri Kelton and attorney Bob Myman. Sullivan is repped by Industry Entertainment, United Agents UK and attorney David Evans.

    Scott Porter is traveling from Hart of Dixie into the heart of darkness, joining Cinemax’s exorcism thriller Outcast as a regular, TVLine has confirmed.

    The series, from Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, follows Kyle Barnes (Almost Famous‘ Patrick Fugit), a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.

    According to Deadline, which broke the news, Friday Night Lights vet Porter will play Donnie Hamel an amiable and engaging type-A former jock whose work returns him home to Rome, West Virginia.
    Outcast is slated to debut on Cinemax in 2016.

    Uhtred wins the protection of Alfred. He believes his commitment to the newly crowned King will help ensure he continues on the path to reclaim his birthright, but this newfound allegiance might also cost him his relationship with Brida. Meanwhile, Brida harbors a secret of her own. Episode three premieres Saturday, October 24, 10:00pm ET on BBC AMERICA.

    EPISODE FOUR
    A cunning tactical play by King Alfred keeps Uhtred close at heel, but it’s not long before Uhtred realizes he’s been tricked and his relationship with the King hits a new low. King Alfred then invites Uhtred to peace talks only to use him as a pawn, handing Uhtred over as a hostage to the Danes. However, the turn of events reunites Uhtred with his Danish brother Ragnar the Younger. When the tides turn once again and threaten Uhtred’s life, Ragnar proves to be a true ally and quite possibly, Uhtred’s saving grace. Meanwhile, a great battle looms over Wessex. Episode four premieres Saturday, October 31, 10:00pm ET on BBC AMERICA.
