    Brian White has been cast in a major recurring role on Season 4 of NBC firefighter drama Chicago Fire. He will play Captain Dallas Patterson, the new captain of the squad, on the series, which returned to production in Chicago last week for an Oct. 12 season premiere. The role adds to a busy portfolio for White who also is recurring on ABC’s Scandal and Mistresses. He is repped by Paradigm, Zero Gravity Management and attorney Eric Feig.

    EW has learned exclusively that Callie Thorne will be joining the cast of Mysteries of Laura in a recurring capacity for season 2.

    Debuting in the season premiere, the Rescue Me and Necessary Roughness alum will play the all-business new boss at the 2nd Precinct, Captain Nancy Santiani — not so affectionately referred to as “Santini” by Laura (Debra Messing). Despite her youth and petite size, Santiani runs a tight ship and refuses to take any crap from Laura, who doles out plenty of it.

    Recovery Road is adding a sponsor to the rehab facility.

    Laura San Giacomo, known for roles on NBC's Just Shoot Meand TNT's Saving Grace, has nabbed a guest-starring spot on the ABC Family drama's first season, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.

    The actress will portray Gina, a rebellious artist. Gina is also an AA sponsor who has concerns about a recovering alcoholic whom she helped years ago.

    The 'One Tree Hill' favorite will recur on the period drama.

    One Tree Hill alum James Lafferty has booked a recurring role on the upcoming period drama, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

    Underground centers on a group of slaves planning a daring 600-mile escape from a Georgia plantation. Along the way, they are aided by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad as they attempt to evade the people charged with bringing them back, dead or alive.

    Lafferty will play Kyle Risdin, a U.S. marshal who is intent on enforcing the Fugitive Slave Act.

She'll play Luisa, an independent and spirited woman who illegally emigrated from Ecuador as a child and is now working her way through school.

  • 08:30 - MOVIES: Looking For Alaska - John Green Adaptation - Charlie Rowe, Mitchell Hope & Anya Taylor-Joy Eyed for Leading Roles
    “Spider-Man” runner-up Charlie Rowe and Mitchell Hope (Disney Channel’s “Descendants”) are the finalists for the male lead in John Green’s “Looking for Alaska,” while “The Witch” star Anya Taylor-Joy is the frontrunner for the titular female lead, TheWrap has learned.

    Immy Waterhouse, the model and younger sister of Suki Waterhouse, is also a contender for the female lead of Alaska Young along with two other actresses whose identities remain unknown.

    Director Rebecca Thomas was recently in New York reading girls, and insiders say she and Paramount are close to making a decision on both young leads. While Paramount ideally hoped to cast an established name like Chloe Moretz or Daisy Ridley, Thomas has been open to casting a relative unknown and making a fresh discovery.

    “Looking for Alaska” follows a teen named Miles who is sent to boarding school where he falls for a beautiful and mysterious classmate named Alaska Young.

    This latest Green adaptation will once again be produced by Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill and written by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who also penned “The Fault In Our Stars” and “Paper Towns,” which hits theaters tomorrow.
