  • 00:00 - American Crime - Season 2 - Faran Tahir Joins Cast
    Faran Tahir (Iron Man) has joined the second season cast of John Ridley’s ABC drama series American Crime. Tahir will play Rhys Bashir, the chairman of the board at the local school. Tahir joins returning stars Lili Taylor, Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, Elvis Nolasco and Richard Cabral, all of whom will be playing new characters in a new setting. Season 2 is filming in Austin, TX. Ridley executive produces American Crime with Michael J. McDonald for ABC Studios. Tahir also plays The Commander in CBS’ new drama series Supergirl.

    Judy Greer (Ant-Man, Jurassic World, Married) will be joining the show for this season’s penultimate episode as Alice Logan, the wife of Dan Logan (guest star Josh Charles), the perfume magnate who approaches Masters and Johnson about bottling the smell of sex. A recovering alcoholic and long-suffering spouse, Alice joins her husband and Masters and Johnson for a painful dinner in which agendas collide, truths are exposed and no relationship emerges in the state it entered. MASTERS OF SEX airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME.

    In a competitive situation, with two networks interested, ABC has bought Black Heart, a sprawling family drama from playwright/screenwriter Kelly Masterson(Killing Kennedy) and Prospect Park.

    Written by Masterson and to be produced by ABC Studios, Black Heart is very much in the ABC wheelhouse. It tells the story of the unlikely ascension of the second son to the throne of a multi-billion dollar, family-owned energy company. In centers on the first-born son, twisted and scarred by a fire decades ago, who uses intrigue, manipulation, blackmail and even murder to put his beloved younger brother in power.

    Chloe Grace Moretz is the newest resident of Neighbors 2, the sequel to last year’s hit comedy from Universal Pictures. No word on a logline or character description for Moretz, who joins returning stars Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne for Round 2 along with helmer Nicholas Stoller. Andrew Jay Cohen, Brendan O’Brien, Rogen, Stoller and Evan Goldberg are writing the pic, which is set for release May 13. The original opened to almost $50M in a similar slot last May and ended up grossing $268M-plus worldwide, making it 2014’s top-grossing original comedy.

  • 10:30 - Netflix's First They Killed My Father - Angelina Jolie to Direct & Co-Write
    Angelina Jolie Pitt will be helming her next project for a late-2016 release on Netflix and festivals worldwide. The Oscar winner will co-write and direct an adaptation of Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung’s 2000 memoir First They Killed My Father: A Daughter Of Cambodia Remembers as a Netflix Original film. The actress and Unbroken director has been working on the adaptation of the book of life under the murderous Khmer Rouge for several years since reading it and reaching out to Ung more than 10 years ago.

    “I was deeply affected by Loung’s book,” said Jolie Pitt, who also will produce the feature. “It deepened forever my understanding of how children experience war and are affected by the emotional memory of it. And it helped me draw closer still to the people of Cambodia, my son’s homeland.” Jolie Pitt’s Cambodia-born son Maddox will be involved in the film. Rithy Panh, director of the Best Foreign Language film Oscar nominee The Missing Picture, will serve as a producer.

  • 10:20 - HBO’s All The Way - Aisha Hinds, Spencer Garrett, Todd Weeks & Mo McRae Join Cast
    Aisha Hinds (Under The Dome), Spencer Garrett (Blood And Oil), Todd Weeks (The Maiden Heist) and Mo McRae (Wild) have been cast opposite Bryan Cranston in All The Way, HBO’s adaptation of the Tony-winning Robert Schenkkan play. Directed by Jay Roach and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, the film covers Lyndon Baines Johnson (Cranston) from the moment the assassination of John F. Kennedy made LBJ the 36th president of the United States and through a turbulent first year that included leveraging his power to pass Civil Rights legislation in Congress up to his landslide re-election victory in 1964.

    Hinds, repped by Greene & Associates, will play Fannie Lou Hamer, leader of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party. Garrett, repped by Abrams Artists Agency and LINK Entertainment, plays labor union leader Walter Reuther. Weeks, repped by Greene & Associates, is Walter Jenkins, Johnson’s longtime aide. And McRae, repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment, plays civil rights activist Stokely Carmichael. In addition to Cranston, they join previously announced Melissa Leo, Anthony Mackie and Bradley Whitford.

  • 10:10 - Trial - Billy Bob Thornton Cast as the Lead
    Billy Bob Thornton is set for the lead in Trial, the Amazon Studios drama from The Practice, Ally McBeal and Picket Fences creator David E. Kelley, which is on track for a 10-episode straight-to-series order. Kevin Costner previously had been eyed for the role but talks fell through.

    The legal drama, which Kelley co-wrote with his Practice and Boston Legal producer, fellow former attorney Jonathan Shapiro, centers on Billy McBride (Thornton). Once a big and powerful lawyer, Billy has become a shell of his former self, an alcoholic in a rumpled suit. Billy’s downfall came after he lost a case that saw an innocent kid murdered, and his guilt-driven alcoholism cost him his wife and his job after his longtime partner Cooper turned on him and kicked him out of their law firm. Still hanging onto his dry charisma, Billy is now going head-to-head against Cooper, bringing a case against his former partner, which begins to stir in him his old ambition.

    Heading into another can’t-miss season of appointment television, CTV confirmed today its fall premiere dates for CTV and CTV Two. After a hit 2014/2015 season, which saw six of the Top 6 new series on CTV, four new, powerful dramas arrive in primetime to continue to strengthen CTV’s #1 schedule. The big-buzz series coming to CTV this fall: action-packed mystery-thriller BLINDSPOT, airing Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning Sept. 21; explosive strike-it-rich family drama BLOOD & OIL and the not-to-be-missed time-shifting conspiracy drama QUANTICO, airing Sundays at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET/PT respectively beginning Sept. 27; and adrenaline-driven hospital drama CODE BLACK, airing Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning Sept. 30.

    As hot new series get ready to enter the schedule, fall also sees the return of last season’s top new series.
