  • 14:00 - MOVIES: The Jaunt - Stephen King Short Story Optioned For Film
Plan B has optioned feature rights to The Jaunt, the 1981 Stephen King short story about teleportation travel. The company has attached Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti, the duo behind the 2013 horror film Mama. It’s early days, but this will be developed for Andy to direct. Plan B hasn’t set it with a studio yet, but principals Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner have a first-look deal with New Regency and RatPac Entertainment.

King first published the short story in Twilight Zone Magazine, but gained prominence in his short-story anthology Skeleton Crew, published in 1985. It’s a futuristic tale that takes place in the 24th century, as a father explains the ground rules for “Jaunting,” a form of teleportation the family will be using shortly to go to Mars. The key is that travelers must be under anesthesia for the short journey, or terrible things happen to the mind of those being jaunted around the solar system. Time stands still and one’s brain implodes with too much time to think in an absence of external stimulation. Bad things happen.

Dozens of figures in fatigues appeared to be storming something with a strange helicopterish vehicle (open on the sides) in the background, releasing more troops.”

About The SpoilerTV Daily Newsreel

Every day 100's of items are submitted to us and we don't always have the time to make separate posts for the news and/or there is so much that it would quickly push all other items off the homepage.

So a result we've come up with the idea of the Newsreel, which will feature smaller shows and news items as they happen.

There will be a new Newsreel each day, and as news is added we will update the post and and push it back to the top of the site so that you can see that new items have been added. A tweet of the item will also be sent to our @SpoilerTV account.

New Items will be listed at the top of the article.

This will allow us to provide more news on more shows in a much more timely fashion

  6. If "Stalker" gets a season two they should totally revamp the show.

Get rid of the entire cast but Beth, Jack, and Ray ( Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott, and Eion Bailey by relocating them to another city/give them a major case that they have to leave town for or have them go deep undercover for a year and of course Ray follows them so he can make 'Michelle Webber' his again.

  7. Girl Meets World: So not really a date, but the usual hangout between the group... Oh Cory!

I like the idea of Con Man I just don't think them taking the crowdfunding approach is the best sell here...

Before I Wake looks effectively creepy...

Surprised they're already banking on FantasticFour 2... at the very least they should wait until the first one is released and see how it goes... but maybe it's about FOX wanting to hold on the rights of the F4 again... *shrugs*

Oh that Young and Hungry promo was bad... seriously, though, the promo department of ABCfamily has never been great but I feel they've gotten worse in the last year!

Kinda like the iZombie title sequence...

Meh on that Star Wars concept art... then again I've been pretty "meh" about this whole ordeal so I might not be the most objective person here...

The Odd Couple was a bit better this week, and this looks like it might be a fun episode, so I'll probably stick out until it rolls around...

  13. OH! Stephen King short stories make for GREAT movies! So sing me up for The Jaunt.

I'm getting a bit concerned with the future of Game Of Thrones. But we'll see... I think now that they don't have the books as a guideline anymore we'll finally get to see what kind of storytellers Dan and David really are.

Nice to see DC and Warner pushing their newer and upcoming TV properties... they're actually quite accomplished in the TV domain, I gotta give them that and I like that they show faith in their stuff. Also, question: does this mean that Teen Titans TNT show got picked up? I thought it was still in development...

Teen Titans Go is an animated show. I believe the only DC animated show still on air right now.

  15. OOOooooh! OK... Thanks!! :D

Yeah I know of that show but I'm not their demographic so it didn't even register that might have been it... I read "Teen Titans" and my mind went straight to the in development pilot on TNT, and totally skimmed over the "go" part of the title
