Ratings Breakdown:
The Minnesota Vikings at the Green Bay Packers on “Thursday Night Football” kept CBS in the Thursday overnight winner’s circle, with an approximate 8.5 rating/14 share in households from 8:30-11:30 p.m. ET. Comparably, this was an estimated seven percent below the week-ago match-up between the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins (and that…including the NFLN…translated into 16.29 million viewers and a 6.0 rating/19 share among adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data). “Sunday Night Football” on NBC remains a bigger draw.

Earlier in the evening on CBS was the Football Kick-Off Show at a second-place 5.6/10in the 8 p.m. half-hour.

There were three network series premiere late night: NBC sitcoms “Bad Judge” and “A To Z” opposite Fox limited drama “Gracepoint” from 9-10 p.m. While there is much more to the equation than the household overnights, these initial results give “Bad Judge” the advantage.

“Bad Judge,” starring former “Private Practice” lead Kate Walsh opened with a 4.4 rating/7 share in the household overnights (#3) at 9 p.m. On paper, this does not sound necessarily promising. But “Bad Judge” built from the 8:30 p.m. portion of lead-in “The Biggest Loser” (3.3/ 5) by 33 percent. And it bested the year-ago series-premiere of failed “Sean Saves the World” (3.7/ 6 on 10/.03/13) by 19 percent. So, consider this respectable sampling in a very tough time period. Let’s see what happens next week.

Relationship themed chuckler “A To Z,” starring Ben Feldman and Christin Milioti, launched with a 3.3/ 5 at 9:30 p.m., which also finished a distant third in the time period. Comparably, however, this was 13 percent below failed year-ago occupant “The Michael J. Fox Show” (3.8/ 6 on 10/03/13). And the retention out of “Bad Judge” was so-so at 75 percent (translation: a 25 percent drop). So, consider this sampling for “A To Z” disappointing.

Opposite the two NBC sitcoms, Fox’s “Gracepoint” opened at a disappointing 2.9/ 5 from 9-10 p.m., which dipped by 34 percent from the 8:30 p.m. portion of veteran lead-in “Bones” (4.4/ 7). Deteriorating “Glee” on the year-ago evening was slightly higher at a 3.1/ 5. There is much more to the equation for “Gracepoint” than the metered markets, no doubt. But to put this 2.9/ 5 into perspective, “Gotham” on Fox opened with a 5.7/ 9 in the overnights in the Monday 8 p.m. hour on Sept. 22, and “Red Band Society” was equal at a 2.9/ 5 for its launch in the Wednesday 9 p.m. hour on Sept. 17. That 2.9 overnight household rating for “Red Band Society” translated into 4.10 million viewers and a 1.3/ 4 among adults 18-49. That said, keep your expectations low for “Gracepoint” as the other data is released.

Earlier in the evening on NBC was diluted “The Biggest Loser” at a 3.2/ 5 (#4) from 8-9 p.m., which was still 25 percent above year-ago NBC sitcoms “Parks and Recreation” (2.5/ 4) and the series-premiere of short-lived “Welcome to the Family” (2.6/ 4). Competing “Bones” on Fox averaged a 4.3/ 7 (#3), which was eight percent above the 4.0/ 7 one week earlier.

“Parenthood” on NBC, meanwhile, closed the night with a quiet (and distant third-place) 2.9/ 5 from 10-11 p.m.

Over at ABC, the overnight news was clearly positive. Relocated “Grey’s Anatomy,” now in season 11, opened with a very competitive 6.6/11 from 8-9 p.m., which was just six percent below its 7.0/12 season-opener last Thursday and 10 percent below its 7.3/12 on the year-ago evening (on 10/03/13). “Scandal,” now at 9 p.m., rose to a 7.7/12 and also finished a comfortable second behind football on CBS. One year earlier, “Scandal” began its season with an almost identical 7.9/14 at 10 p.m. Moving up one hour has not hurt either “Grey’s Anatomy” or “Scandal,” and the stronger 8 p.m. anchor support is only lifting ABC.

While most new shows drop in the vicinity of 10 to 20 percent in week two, ABC’s “How To Get Away With Murder” dipped by just nine percent with an 8.7/15 at 10 p.m. (#2). Comparably, this built from the 9:30 p.m. portion of lead-in “Scandal” (7.9/12) by 10 percent. And “HTGAWM” was 10 percent above the aforementioned 7.9/14 in the overnights for year-ago occupant “Scandal.” Note to Shonda Rhimes: consider this a three-tier success!

The CW, which has taken a quiet early approach to the new television season, opened the new seasons of dramas “The Vampire Diaries” and “Reign” last night (which many of its viewers might not have been aware of). “The Vampire Diaries” kicked-off season six with a 1.6/ 3 in the household overnights at 8 p.m., which dropped from its year-ago season-premiere (2.0/ 3 on 10/03/13) by a disappointing 20 percent. Next was the sophomore season-premiere of “Reign” at a abysmal 0.9/ 1 at 9 p.m., which sunk from its year-ago series premiere (1.5/ 2 on 10/17/13) by a significant 40 percent. Lack of overall interest on The CW in recent weeks has hurt the network’s promotional platform, no doubt.

  1. It hurts me so much to see A to Z in the losers. Surprised that Bad Judge had a decent sampling.

    ReplyDelete
  2. TGIT appears to continue to dominate!!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Wow glad to see ABC dominating Thursday.
Vampire Dairies should just announce this as a final season.

  4. Frozen Oncers(was TeenWolfers)3 October 2014 at 14:49

Nice for HTGAWM, out of interest do CW fans crowd the comments on this site like they do over on TVBTN?

    ReplyDelete
  5. And it seems HTGAWM is a solid winner for ABC. Congrats, Shonda!

    The Kate Walsh effect :-)

Thursdays belong to Shonda Rhimes, people!!! Bad, bad, bad for CW!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. :(((( Reign and TVD!!!!!!!!!! I'm crying over here..

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm so glad all of these shows are doing so good! I love everything Shonda puts out. I'm still sad "Off The Maps" did so bad and was cancelled after S1

    ReplyDelete
  10. I agree about switching A to Z and Bud Judge. Bad Judge is pretty mediocre, while A to Z is really good.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Débora Candido3 October 2014 at 14:54

TVD is over; they've messed up with the show. Just a miracle can save this. And I'm not just talking about ratings but mainly the story, that is terrible at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Christopher DeBono3 October 2014 at 14:54

    Poor CW :(

    ReplyDelete
  13. i know i wanted to give S6 a shot and watch it until Episode 5 or 6 to see if it's gotten better than S5, but i was really disappointed and i don't know if i watch it next week... Especially as my Thursdays are so packed with a lot of other shows i like

    ReplyDelete
  14. Débora Candido3 October 2014 at 14:55

I used to watch Grey's; my sister looooves it. I've just started to watch Scandal and it's wonderful. And HTGAWM is terrific, my favorite show of this season so far. Shonda is killing it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. TNF has been saddled by blowouts this season. Imagine if they actually had a competitive game. TGIT is doing well. Murder no doubt is being helped by weak Parenthood and no Elementary. (Plus it's actually good!)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Débora Candido3 October 2014 at 14:57

I know what you mean. And the show used to be soooooo good!!! Julie Plec had just screwed it up.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Just as much as 'Oncers' do,

    ReplyDelete
  18. any early market numbers?
A to Z and Gracepoint Flop
Bad Judge will flop more in the coming weeks

    ReplyDelete
  19. On the bright side, TGIT continues to dominate.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Frozen Oncers(was TeenWolfers)3 October 2014 at 15:00

    So no then.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wouldn't it have been better for NBC to put A to Z with Marry Me or About a Boy on Tuesdays, and hold one of the three until midseason? It seems like a tonal mismatch with Bad Judge. TBL seems like a solid utility player, yet again, as it is down for itself but up for NBC in that slot. I just wonder if/when TB goes to Thursdays, does TBL stay there?
ABC should be proud. Enough said.
As far as Fox...sheesh, nothing's going right for it this season, outside of Mondays. Maybe Gracepoint could build an audience as the season goes on, but then, it's only, what, 10 episodes?
Also, sorry if this is a dumb question, but why does it really matter what the combined total for the football games are? CBS isn't getting ad dollars for what happens on the NFL network, is it?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I expected Gracepoint to have low ratings so no big surprise there.

I'm happy for HTGAWM, last night's episode was terrific. And soooo sad forReign, I really liked it.

Note to CW: Remeber to promote your shows.
Spoiler Alert to ABC: Secrets and Lies will not be your next hit.

    ReplyDelete
  23. No poor writing did ;)

I'm sure Arrow and The Flash will save it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. usually, there tends to be a lot of whining about how 'terrible' a show has gotten and how they should just announce it as the last season already.

    ReplyDelete
  25. VD was a let down last night. No big bad introduced, lotta tears, everyone scattered. I guess the "other side" is gonna be a season long thing. Did like the vampire pancakes though!

    ReplyDelete
  26. All the CW has done for the past two months is promote TVD and The Flash though.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It would have been great if they put Marry Me and A to Z together, as they are both relationship comedies. About A Boy and Bad Judge don't really go with them.

    ReplyDelete
  28. TVD and TO got a lot of promotion, while both Reign and The 100 didn't. The 100 is going to premiere in two weeks, and there's just a clip, not even a trailer.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I haven't watched it, but isn't AAB similar to those--not a romcom, but a little more relationship-ey than other shows? Or is it more family oriented?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Frozen Oncers(was TeenWolfers)3 October 2014 at 15:04

Ah, I just wanted to know so I can be prepared for the sudden high number of comments...I'll never forget last season when BATB was renewed...

    ReplyDelete
  31. family oriented for sure

    ReplyDelete
  32. Totally agree. About a Boy would've done okay in the Thursday slot following by Bad Judge. Also, Marry Me and A to Z have similar themes and they would've paired up well together. I found A to Z to be way better than Bad Judge. I tried so hard to sit through Bad Judge but there were not many funny moments.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well Arrow did rise from its season premiere last year. Just tryin' to be optimistic.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I agree, I am not liking the fact that The CW isn't promoting The 100. I kind of feel that show could be their Scandal (as in solid base audience to begin with but exploding later on). They need to groom it though. And premiering it so close to the World Series will hurt, as Arrow historically hits lows on those nights (as did Supernatural and TTP)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, I was mostly talking about Reign. I like TVD but if it ended this season I would be ok with it, so no big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm so happy for HTGAWM!!!!
Reign wasn't soo bad - not great either, but somewhere in the middle !
As fot TVD - expected - i mean a lot of people(including me )are bored with this show. For me they managed to destroy Elena's character and the story lines........ let say they are much more interesting shows right now!! (i respect what other people think, but this is my opinion:)

    ReplyDelete
  37. So did TVD actually. It premiered with a 1.2 but episodes 3,4,6,7 and 8 all pulled a 1.3

    ReplyDelete
  38. It I haven't watched it either, but it seems family oriented.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yeah, I think so too!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I say it's more family oriented. I love the show but I can see why people say it doesn't fit in with Marry Me.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Maybe NBC wants to put it's most potential comedy and last year's #1 Comedy together on Tuesdays to have a guaranteed win but I think A to Z would retain well had it been paired up with Marry Me. This reminds me of when Trophy Wife was mistreated.

    ReplyDelete
  42. As much as I usually whine that Supernatural doesn't get enough promotion on The CW, even I have to admit that the lack of promo for The 100 is appalling!

    ReplyDelete
  43. A to Z and Bad Judge were horrible

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well maybe they should have promoted more Reign and The 100 - because TVD is already a let down and maybe TO will go there to. But he have to wait and see!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yay for shonda thursdays! don´t sorry to see tvd down but it´s probably gonna stay around 0.8 during the fall so it´s not an a complete disaster, sorry about a to z praying that many people saw the released pilot online and will tune in next week.

    ReplyDelete
  46. A to Z was pretty good, Bad Judge was pretty mediocre.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I thought both really unfunny

    ReplyDelete
  48. I really hope A to Z pick up next week. I watched the second episode today and loved it. I hope it doesn't get canceled.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I really hope that means Bones went up in demos.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think Bad Judge and About a Boy don't fit together at all personally, I don't like that pairing.

    ReplyDelete
  51. That was a dark day for us all haha.

    ReplyDelete
  52. While Trophy Wife should have probably gotten a chance after Modern Family, a pairing with The Goldbergs wasn't something horrible either. People vastly exaggerate the whole "mistreated" thing. The Goldbergs was also in a very tough situation and was able to prove itself and get moved to Wednesdays as a result this year. Trophy WIfe was pulling sub 1.0 levels when the goldbergs was in the mid 1s, that's a big difference. And it happened some nights when Shield was a repeat, so lead-in isn't the answer. I really liked the Trophy Wife pilot (stopped watching afterwards due to ratings) and I wish it could have been saved, but people act like it was placed after Super Fun Night or something. If you want mistreated talk Enlisted for instance.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Watching the new VD was like i was watching a different show

    ReplyDelete
  54. Reign R.I.P. 2013-2015

    ReplyDelete
  55. NBC's comedy development is kind of...all over the place. It does the off kilter shows really, really well, yet it struggles to get people to watch them. It has single cam shows that, regardless of content, are a little more soapy than many might like. It also has no really comedy anchor, something to build a night around, plus lots of holdovers. And it's ordered a bunch of shows for only a few episodes.
Unless something is a clear winner this season, it might be time to cancel everything and start over next season. They are kind of, sort of at that point already, however.
But really, unless there's a clear ratings winner and/or something critically acclaimed, I can see them simply cleaning house and making launch just one or two new comedies in the fall. Maybe one hour of comedy in total, perhaps.

    ReplyDelete
  56. You'd think it would. Last night was a big episode, wrapping up storylines and the big emotional character arc. This week should do well. It will be interesting to see if the shakeup gamble pays off in the coming weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yeah...I get that it's a brutal business, and that when the industry is changing so quickly you can't necessarily take chances, but man, a big part of the battle is finding quality shows. I never watched any mentioned above, but I'll believe others when they say they are good. I kind of wish the networks had renewed and tried to relaunch. Put Enisted after Idol, or something, which even though it is down still gets a decent audience.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Viewers are clearly not into rom coms. Pretty surprised to see the ratings for Bad Judge. I guess NBC must have promoted it well. It was pretty baaaaaaad. People probably tuned in for Kate Walsh. Then again, never underestimate people's taste in TV.

A to Z was the better pilot here.

    ReplyDelete
  59. TTP had to be renewed not reign :(

    ReplyDelete
  60. How'd you get the second episode already?

    ReplyDelete
  61. did not like either and I am loved Kate Walsh from greys

    ReplyDelete
  62. Patrick Ausgewahlt3 October 2014 at 15:22

One of the early trailers for the show had her befriending a young boy and showing a softer side. That at least works with About a Boy.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Damn, I am going to be so bumped if A to Z gets pulled.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Also, which is the correct HH rating for Bones, 4.3/7 or 4.4/7? He has both listed.

    ReplyDelete
  65. They pretty much cut the boy from the show. He was supposed to be a regular originally, but now he's only ma guest in the pilot.

    ReplyDelete
  66. The Second half hour is 4.4, it averaged 4.3 for both half hours.

    ReplyDelete
  67. they should paired with marry me

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh, okay. Thanks. :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. I don't think Enlisted after Idol would have worked any better than it did for Surviving Jack. IMO, they should have simply done Brooklyn Nine-Nine/Enlisted the entire year and probably air both after the Superbowl to get the male exposure.

    ReplyDelete
  70. You're right, my friend. At least Trophy Wife wasn't dumped like Enlisted was. Honestly, Enlisted would've done WAY BETTER on Tuesdays after Dads ended its run. Glee would've done the same ratings as Enlisted on Fridays but Enlisted would've done WAY BETTER than Glee.

    ReplyDelete
  71. A to Z and Gracepoint bombed.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Grace probably bombed worse since comedy have very young audiences vs dramas

    ReplyDelete
  73. I would predict a 3.5 for Scandal & Murder, but I'm not that good in predicting ratings.. Hopefully their ratings are even better :D

    ReplyDelete
  74. Only 10 minutes or so till we get the prelims.

    ReplyDelete
  75. All hail queen Shonda!

    ReplyDelete
  76. If they pull Gracepoint I will be very mad , especially as I have already spent several hours watching the first seven.

    ReplyDelete
  77. A dark day? Lol, it was hilarious! I for one had a blast

    ReplyDelete
  78. when is Gracepoint done shooting btw?
Really hoping they finish of shooting the season at least, with that show I could easily imagine a british station buying the rights to air it when Broadchurch is on hiatus. So we might get to see the whole thing despite being canned.

    ReplyDelete
  79. No idea, FOX sent out the screener for the first 7 episodes like month ago, I think it could be done shooting the remaining 3 by now.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm happy that someone did lol.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Gracepoint: 1.2/4.8M

    ReplyDelete
  82. Well well, theCW SHOULD have started its promo campaign earlier and heavier! Not only relying on social media buzz

as much as I like theCW I'm afraid that most of it's shows that don't air on tuesday or wednesday are going to underperform.

    - Jane the Virgin hasn't been graced with much to any buzz and isn't really a genre usual CW watchers are into

    - The Originals performed below expectations last season, has been shoved to monday (theCWs weakest night) and has recieved little promotion

    - Reign well...is Reign

    - TVD has performed worse and worse as the last season went on

Arrow, The Flash, The 100 and Supernatural look to be safe since the network is pretty much playing it safe with them due to the GIGANTIC promo campaign that is The Flash

    ReplyDelete
  83. A to Z,, 1.2
    bad Judge, 1.3

    ReplyDelete
  84. come on, listening to BatB fans rample about their show being so good that it outlasted others was pretty hilarious.

Especially since we all pretty much know that 3 is their final season (shortened, fall)

    ReplyDelete
  85. 1.2 for A to Z hurts me so so much.

    ReplyDelete
  86. HTGAWM: 3.2 and 11.8.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Hmmm. AH and AD! are suddenly looking pretty good. Wow, FOX is a complete mess. They can always renew Bones for five more seasons - it will outlast everything.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Muder at 3.2! Awesomeee!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Scandal at a 3.3.

    ReplyDelete
  90. that's a really big drop though

    ReplyDelete
  91. them already having 7 episodes at their disposal is pretty odd, seems like they don't have a normal filming schedule. I might have to do some reading but what are the chances that they're filming on a movie schedule (location after location, out of order) instead on a TV schedule (episode after episode)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Aw man I expected a good ratings for this show. Fox is imploding

    ReplyDelete
  93. Don't know why, but i THINK Scandal/HTGAWM may be adjusted up two tenths.

    ReplyDelete
  94. It was bound to happen, I am not worried at all. Most new shows fall around this and considering its lead-in fell about the same and that this was a particular hyped premiere 18% is a pretty normal drop I think.

    ReplyDelete
  95. at least one role David Boreanaz will never get to old for I suppose :/
Still....I want him to play Angel at least one more time >.<

    ReplyDelete
  96. Take abc with a grain of salt
They end up adjusting big time in the finals

    ReplyDelete
  97. ....and JtV!!!! I'm getting 'morning sickness' from all the freaking JtV commercials. And ZERO promos for SPN last night during either show. Reign started promising enough, despite the ratings but IMO TVD was a snoozefest. zzzzzz

    ReplyDelete
  98. Seeing all the ABC adjustment, I don't doubt that.

    ReplyDelete
  99. It's a 10 pm show plus it will be adjusted up and all new shows drop 10-20 percent

    ReplyDelete
  100. Wow, At how low artigo came back: 0.4

    TVD: 0.9

    ReplyDelete
  101. well they hyped the shyte out of Flash, there's no way the show is going to underpeform.
Arrow, per extantion, (as well as the Flashs lead out) are bound to profit from this as well.

mondays, thursdays and fridays have pulled the worst card this year, these shows went with a complete lack of promotion and are bound to fail this season

    ReplyDelete
  102. 0.4 for Reign. That show is BATB 2.0.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Gracepoint got a series order back in January, so the started shooting early.

    ReplyDelete
  104. 3...2...1...Reign fans raining down on ya :P

I'm still confused how the show got renewed

    ReplyDelete
  105. I am going to have fun with this comment on TVBTN, lol

    ReplyDelete
  106. I m gonna come out and say that cw jumped the gun in renewal for reign.courtesy of cw/wb politics

  107. Frozen Oncers(was TeenWolfers)3 October 2014 at 16:16

Cool, so you wanna start promoting The 100 now CW, thanks :) Seriously though, they need to start promoting it asap...

    ReplyDelete
  108. that explains it, good on them though, if canned they can still offer it to overseas markets.

David Tennant is pretty big with the brits, I could see itv or (ironically) the BBC getting a hold of Gracepoint.
PBS might be a solid contender for a US alternative

  109. Frozen Oncers(was TeenWolfers)3 October 2014 at 16:16

Lol, I can't wait to see that!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I think is quite the drop, tbh. But ABC must be thrilled at The numbers, regardless!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Wow that's pretty sad for Reign. And now I am super into the show. Damn it.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I know! I love the show. Gonna enjoy it as it lasts, though. :(

Megan Follows is delicious in her role.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Yep, they fixed one of their death slots, now only need something for Tuesday at 10. Forever is not doing a good job at all.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I expected the renewal at last min but if I recall my memory they renewed a long time ago

    ReplyDelete
  115. Christopher DeBono3 October 2014 at 16:18

    Same here :(

    ReplyDelete
  116. early renewal along with TO/TVD/SPN/Arrow

    ReplyDelete
  117. awesome news Scandal 3.3 HTGAWM 3.2

    ReplyDelete
  118. I would say again that it doesn't deserve an early renewal, but I've discussed that plenty of times last season.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Forever is at least doubling up on last year's occupant. I wouldn't yank Forever juts yet. It could pull a Chicago Fire during fall. And I am pretty sure the 8pm hour will become a bigger problem anyway

    ReplyDelete
  120. Isn't David getting tired of the show, tho?

    ReplyDelete
  121. last years promotional focus was all on Reign as theCWs new "hit drama", I get why they didn't can it.

I'm sure there was some penalty attatched to the show, huge marketing budget, giant budget overall. Cancelling it after one season might have saved them money but it would have taken a lot of their credibility.

Selling something as your new 'drama sensation' to the public to then end it after just one season?

They even gave it an additional script order before it even premiered (wich is usually a clear sign of a backorder)

    ReplyDelete
  122. S that was a surprise

    ReplyDelete
  123. we all have, I don't think that there is anyone who isn't surprised with this decision. Even some Reign fans were caught off guard by that

    ReplyDelete
  124. Hit drama ?? Wow then I must have missed something .

  126. Could've been worse for TVD, i'm surprised it started as high as it did.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Yeesh, I made a prediction on TVBTN the other day about CW shows and said Reign would get multiple .4's this year. I honestly didn't think it would happen this early though. Maybe it will adjust. Lots of stuff down. NBC thursday comedy night....it's never going to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Do u think there is a chance for them to go back up in next month???

    ReplyDelete
  129. Hoping for a miracle for A to Z, here.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Surprised that the demo looks like it dropped - not by much, but with all the promotion after the shock ending last week, I expected to see a lift. I'm really surprised. Huh.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Maybe not. I just meant that Fox had options to try to get the show more exposure, as other networks did with other shows.. I get why it didn't do that, but it also has a lot of room on its schedule despite programming less than the other big networks. It also needs new programming and some well reviewed shows at that.
I just wish it had tried to do more, however it did it.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yep, I know. I've already fallen for this show :(

    ReplyDelete
  133. But how TVD got below 2 mil with 1.6 overnights? Isn't it usually over 2 mil ? Anyway, very sad. And disastrous for the Reign. Now I really worry about next week SPN premiere and The 100 later on. Those 2 were barely promoted to open with descent number. At least there is still time for the 100

    ReplyDelete
  134. Curious to see how much the new comedies on NBC drop. It has plenty in store, but does it simply want to cut its losses early this year?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Winners: Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, Bones

    OK: The Biggest Looser

    Disappointing: The Vampire Diaries

Losers: Gracepoint, A to Z, Bad Judge, Reign

    ReplyDelete
  136. The CW confuses all together. They promote the crap out of Reign and TVD. I don't see half as much for Arrow/TO/SPN. They do 0 promotion for The 100 and over promote The Flash. Reign and BaTB just took a spot away from potential. They should never have been renewed and BaTB should never have gotten a second season.

    ReplyDelete
  137. As usual, NBC's schedule is the most fascinating to me. It's got a lot of work to do in order to rebuild its schedule, particularly with comedy, but still has some holdovers, like SVU, that might not be able to part with just yet.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Seriously with this much controversy in tvd and they still pull up 0.9 . Sometimes controversies does pay off

    ReplyDelete
  139. Fox wouldn't pull a 10 part series would they? At least Gracepoint didnt lose many viewers in its second half hour. (4.85m - 4.82m)
Great for Grey's Anatomy , 11 Seasons and still doing well! How to get away with Murder is also doing well , which I am pleased as its my favorite new show already!

I expect adjustments from ABC later as everything else this week has gone up.

    ReplyDelete
  140. totally agreed, Arrow got two posters, The Originals promo campaign started EXTREMELY late (especially due to being shoved on a monday).

    Meanwhile Reign/TVD/Flash are treated like...well....

    ReplyDelete
  141. 3 Shonda shows all on one night= A bunch of other shows on that night that are DOA.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Me, too, I'm waiting for Brandy to sputter her "The CW has never cancelled a show that received a full season 2 order" spiel. And I like Reign.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Seriously cw ratings thing is the best controversial thing happening in ratings wise

    ReplyDelete
  144. IIRC Reign was also included in the early renewals and many of us - even us Reign fans - said 'Huh'.

    ReplyDelete
  145. I saw an arrow poster with Roy photo shopped horribly come on cw .

    ReplyDelete
  146. don't know, it's a safe source of income. If I was an actor his age I would try to milk it as long as I could.
With their solid numbers he could possibly push in a raise as well.

Knowing the risk that comes with this business I'd say he (any many others would as well) will play it safe.

Not everyone can be Ryan Hansen (who has had a INCREDIBLE amount of one off shows now, Bad Judge being this years contender)

I would love him to reunite with Alysson Hannigan, James Marsters and SMG for one more Buffy themed piece of media but with Bones in the way :/

    ReplyDelete
  147. I enjoyed fighting it out with Brady last season, lol

    ReplyDelete
  148. Don't forget she will bash The 100 and say it will get canceled despite doing better than Reign last season because Life Unexpected and Carrie Diaries got canceled after the second season.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I doubt FOX pulls Gracepoint. They might burn it during Christmas or so if the plan wasn't already to end it before holidays, but I doubt it doesn't get aired. They have enough problems to deal with.

    ReplyDelete
  150. oh yes, that poster caused some controversy as well with the weird a** shipper base

    ReplyDelete
  151. Not only that, the promo poster's I've seen for SPN are photo's that are at least 3-4 years old, just photoshopped to add Mark Shepherd and Misha Collins. It's ridiculous. The 100 is one of the better quality drama's with potential out there and they're going to lose that potential and blame it on ratings. Keeping my fingers crossed for The 100/Arrow/SPN - I've seen so much promotion for The Flash, I'm sick of it already.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Well TVD did up from it's last year's premiere of 1.2 to 1.3 in week 3 - I think - but Reign never went above it's series premiere of 0.8. Doesn't mean that both shows won't be adjusted up in the today's finals.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I can't believe they don't promote The 100 more. The video of first 3 minutes of the premiere got 60K views in one day while most CW promos get around 3 K views in one day.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Not to be funny but Roy has a shipper fandom?

    ReplyDelete
  155. lol no people were mad because Laurel was beside Oliver

    ReplyDelete
  156. It will end before the holidays if they stick to the original plan.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Frozen Oncers(was TeenWolfers)3 October 2014 at 16:39

Wow really, that kinda makes me feel better about it's ratings when it returns even though it really shouldn't :P

    ReplyDelete
  158. I know right?

Reign, TVD and Flash got promoted heavily so early

meanwhile TO started its campaign last week, SPN got ONE sh*tty poster, Arrow two terrible posters and The 100 nothing

    ReplyDelete
  159. They call every new show "a hit" even if it's not-Emily Oownens even a couple years ago

    ReplyDelete
  160. Same here. Since the show started my attitude has been "I'll enjoy it while it lasts."

    ReplyDelete
  161. Double agree. Like both shows but TTP had the potential for more exciting storyarcs than Reign.

    ReplyDelete
  162. it wasn't renewed early in favor of CBS/WB politics..It was renewed early cause it did well online, internationally,Had network support, & was stable rated compared to TTP,has critical praise!did well in dvr

    ReplyDelete
  163. Bones :( It's HH rating gave me hope that it did better than that. Hopefully it will adjust up, though.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I love football and the Packers in particular, so I was watching the game last night. That said, even though CBS has NFL Thursday, it doesn't give ABC or NBC any competition. It's either sports/genre/soapy drama. I wonder what Thursday's would look like if CBS scheduled competitive shows.

    ReplyDelete
  165. TVBTN still hasn't posted the ratings

    ReplyDelete
  166. I can't for the comments and all the fan excuse bingo.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Waiting for cancellation bear to say his thoughts .

    ReplyDelete
  168. Nah, probably not. Aside from the fact that it'd have to get a .2 before it'd do far worse than anything else, I'd bet they are slightly reluctant to alienate creative types by constantly pulling shows like that.

    ReplyDelete
  169. "but Reign has critical acclaim"
"no one watched it because TVD was so terrible"

those are the only ones I could come up with

    ReplyDelete
  170. On which show? I need to get back into reading TVBTN on a regular basis, It is fall and I love following the Cancel Bear.

    ReplyDelete
  171. BTW, OUAT rose to 4.6 in Live+3.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Christopher DeBono3 October 2014 at 16:42

I can't wait to see the fan campaigns. Some of the BATB and Starcrossed one's were hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Both were low rated. Reign got renewed because of network politics and because it's a CBS show.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Frozen Oncers(was TeenWolfers)3 October 2014 at 16:43

I keep refreshing it lol, it'll be like one big hater reunion!

    ReplyDelete
  175. Agreed, especially if it holds up with delayed viewings, which could indicate audiences are sticking around, even if it's not a priority.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Not anymore for female fav shows with all new shows in abc

    ReplyDelete
  177. Reign fans defending the show's ratings by blaming TVD.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Christopher DeBono3 October 2014 at 16:43

I'm seeing a lot of "They should have started with the coronation" on my twitter feed.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Frozen Oncers(was TeenWolfers)3 October 2014 at 16:44

    #SaveStarcrossed #RenewTTP lol...memories...

    ReplyDelete
  180. I keep checking every new tweet I get in my feed but nothing so far.

    ReplyDelete
  181. They haven't-BatB,GG,HoD,Arrow,90210,Nikita,VD.Heck, Nikita was doing 0.4s and VbatB getting 0.3s at the end of season two yet they weren't cancelled.
