— Scott Derrickson (@scottderrickson) June 3, 2014Never mind the Ant-Man director drama. Marvel Studios has found its helmer to bring superhero Doctor Strange to the big screen, with Scott Derrickson signing on to direct the Marvel feature.
Doctor Strange, who made his first appearance in the Marvel Universe more than 50 years ago, in 1963, is a former neurosurgeon who serves as the Sorcerer Supreme -- the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. The character was first created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in the pages of Strange Tales No. 110.

Talks are still early, but sources say Derrickson, who most recently directed “Sinister,” is Marvel’s choice and a deal should be struck shortly.

The pic will be produced by Kevin Feige, who, over the years, has repeatedly said how badly he wants to get a “Dr. Strange” movie made. Executive producers on the project are Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Stan Lee and Stephen Broussard.
