Clean Sweep for NBC

NBC 8.3/13
ABC 5.3/ 8
CBS 5.2/ 8
Fox 3.9/ 6
CW 0.8/ 1
-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Monday 3/04/13:
NBC: +131, CBS: +21, CW: no change, ABC: -12, Fox: -29
———-
-Winners:
“The Voice” (NBC), “The Bachelor” (ABC), “How I Met Your Mother” (CBS), “2 Broke Girls” (CBS), “Mike & Molly” (CBS), “Mom” (CBS), “The Blacklist” (NBC)
-Fading Fast:
“The Following” (Fox)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Star-Crossed” (CW), “Beauty and the Beast” (CW), “Intelligence” (CBS)
———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
NBC opened the week with another clean Monday sweep, beating distant No. 2 ABC by 57 percent in the household overnights. Two-hours of “The Voice” topped the night with a 9.0 rating/13 share from 8-10 p.m., peaking in the 9:30 p.m. half-hour with a 9.5/14. And it led into bona fide freshman hit “The Blacklist” at a 7.0/12 at 10 p.m., which beat the competition — “Castle” on ABC (5.5/ 9) and recent entry “Intelligence” on CBS (3.9/ 6) – by 27 percent and 79 percent, respectively. Comparably, this was the highest overnight rating for “The Backlist” since its fall season-finale on Dec. 2. See you in season two…and beyond…James Spader.
Over at ABC, 90-minutes of “The Bachelor” was on the map with a 6.1/ 9 from 8-9:30 p.m., which increased by seven percent from the 5.7/ 9 for the two-hour edition one week earlier. But an encore of the pilot episode of sitcom “Mixology” fell off the charts with a mere 2.4/ 4 at 9:30 p.m. Aforementioned “Castle” closed the night for the alphabet net at a second-place 5.5/ 9 at 10 p.m.
On CBS, the two-hour sitcom block — “How I Met Your Mother” (#2t: 6.1/ 9), “2 Broke Girls” (#3: 5.7/ 8), “Mike & Molly” (#2t, 6.0/ 9) and “Mom” (#2: 5.7/ 9) – was successfully consistent. And the overnight retention of 95 percent for “Mom” out of “Mike & Molly” means that a second season renewal is a sure thing. But aforementioned drama “Intelligence” remains the weak spot at a 3.9/ 6 at 10 p.m. If CBS does move forward on the proposed new spin-off from “CSI,” the long-term former success of “CSI: Miami” in the Monday 10 p.m. hour should not be forgotten.
In season (or series) finale news, freshman Fox drama “Almost Human” scored a typical 4.1/ 6 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m., which was 25 percent below year-ago occupant “Bones” (5.5/ 8 on 3/04/13). Next was diluted “The Following” at a fourth-place 3.6/ 5 at 9 p.m., which dropped by a hefty 36 percent from the 5.6/ 8 on the year-ago evening.
In week three news, CW drama “Star-Crossed” scored a 0.9/ 1 (#5) at 8 p.m., which was actually 12 percent above the anemic 0.8/ 1 one week earlier. And it led into a 0.7/ 1 (#5) for sure-to-be-axed “Beauty and the Beast” at 9 p.m.
In late night, the third Monday of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on NBC remained well above the competition with a 4.2/11 in the overnights from 11:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Comparably, that was just seven percent below the 4.5/12 on the week-ago Monday. Next was “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC at a 2.5/ 6 (+19 percent from one week earlier), followed by “The Late Show With David Letterman” at a 2.0/ 5 (- 9).
The second Monday of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” won the 12:30-1:30 a.m. hour, with a 2.0/7. Comparably, that was 23 percent below the 2.6/ 9 for its debut one week earlier. Next was “Nightline” on ABC at a 1.6/ 5 (+14), followed by “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on CBS at a consistent 1.0/ 3).

Hope 2 BG did really great. This episode was beyond awesome!
ReplyDeleteWill wait for the demos when it comes to Almost Human and The Following. Hope that The Following will increase when it has the more compatible Bones as a lead-in.
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes to Mom this show is awesome....really sad for SC & BATB
ReplyDelete2 Broke Girls and Mom was amazing last night! Hope they both did well!
ReplyDelete#saveoneshow #Batbs3 best show on tv fantastic cast need season 3
ReplyDeleteLook forward to watching Mom then... Still waiting for the subs to be added on Addic7ed
ReplyDeleteGlad Star Crossed rose! The show is really gathering momentum, I hope it can find an audience to follow.
ReplyDeleteReally happy for Star-Crossed, though it still deserves higher. At least an increase is positive, lets hope for another increase next week!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but that's not going to happen unless BatB pulls itself around and scores a 0.6 next time it airs there's no hope for that.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I kept thinking about was theCW to invent the 'wrap up'-slot. A slot they air the final 4 episodes of a few of their past shows. Like a 4 episode warp up season for BatB, a 4 episode warp up season for Star Crossed and a 4 episode wrap up season for The Secret Circle. It's obviously unlikely that that'll happen but it'd be a nice gesture from theCW towards its fans
I totally agree!!! Hope Star-Crossed find more followers so we get a chance for a second season....
ReplyDeleteAlison & Anna are doing an awesome job
ReplyDeleteSadly, series low for Castle, surely:(
ReplyDeleteI prefer subs as well, but any other subs than the Blu-ray Disc version of the subs tend to be really crappy, in my experience. I tend to just download the HDTV version clean with no subs, then once the Blu-ray version is out, I replaced the HDTV version with those and I watch them again with subtitles to make sure I didn't miss anything :)
ReplyDeleteI know but I was honestly afraid it would dip even worse than last week. I think this is a good sign from this current point of view. I hope it get's at least the Carrie diaries mercy and friday chance to prove it self. But it's really unlikely if it doesn't get 0,5
ReplyDeleteMaybe if they would stop making BATB the "Gabe" show, we wouldn't be losing viewers!!!!! It's called "Beauty and the Beast" NOT "Beauty and the Gabe"!!!!! Get his hypocritical rear end gone before we lose our show!!!! I want my VINCAT back!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe all knew that Castle would be hurt with the Mixology (R) as lead-in. It bounced quite well from that.
ReplyDeleteBetween that and mixing up episodes they made it hard for a show to survive.
ReplyDeleteYay Star-Crossed! Glad it rose ever so slightly.
ReplyDeleteDo we have to wait till May to hear about AH's fate?
ReplyDeleteSeries low for Castle incoming...
ReplyDeleteThat will be the latest we'll know by. Hopefully it might be a little earlier.
ReplyDeleteThe Blacklist. Awesome
ReplyDeleteA round of applause for ABC !
ReplyDeleteWhy do you air Mixology (rerun) before an new ep of Castle ?
Series low for Almost Human :(, hopefully it will adjust up to 1.6 in the finals
ReplyDeleteOuch, that a series low for Castle? Pretty amazing that it took this long to reach it though!

I hate ABC right now a little. What the hell was this schedule? Ughh I'm glad DWTS is back with next ep of Castle. Hopefully it goes back to it's normal 1.9-2.0. It's frustrating to see Castle going low. :(
ReplyDeleteIm happy for Mom and Star-Crossed. I was sure it was going to be my least favorite new show from CW this year, but i might actually like it more than TTP. But last 3 eps of TTP were amazing too. I guess TTP will get 0.4´s on Mondays so it will be pretty even between them if they decide to renew 2 more new shows (im assuming The 100 will be renewed) . I know that out of those 3 probably only one will be renewed, but i think there is small chance for 2 of them, because i dont see CW ordering 5 new shows again, since 2 of 6 pilots sound pretty bad
ReplyDelete"makes their audience feel better about starting watching a series on the CW because at least they will get closure"
ReplyDeleteHonestly, that's just wishful thinking. And partly ignorant. Just because a few shows in the past have gotten series finales, that's no proof future shows will. It's all about the money, not about closure. I was devastated when CBS cancelled CSI: Miami with no proper series finale. I still went back to the network when they started airing Under the Dome. You can't take "betrayals" like those personally. Interested in a show? Watch the show, regardless of the network's previous business moves.
I might also add cable is usually (at least from what I've seen over the years) better at the entire final-season ordeal. Broadcast networks are bitches like that. :P
Why did the Blacklist drop from a 3.1 to a 2.7 this week? Don't get me wrong, that's a great rating but I don't understand why it dropped that big?
ReplyDeleteWow The Blacklist had a huge drop in the second hour in 18-49. I'm not really sure what that could mean but it doesn't seem good.
ReplyDeleteAre those numbers right?! I mean, I expected around 1.5/1.6 for Castle, but such a drop for The Blacklist no, I didn´t expect...
ReplyDeleteSuch rage. Wow.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually surprised it took this long, actually, with what ABC has been doing to it this season. There's Castle this week, no Castle next week, there's Castle again this week, no Castle next week, or the classic "a new episode of Castle one week from tonight", haha, just kidding, were gonna postpone it, one day before it airs or in the day it airs were gonna announce that there won't actually be a new episode but a rerun instead. ABC barely promotes, but that has happened since forever tho, but with the unannounced schedule changes people no longer know when the new episodes air. And then their lead in last night, jfc. Since ABC can't mess with OUAT's schedule this season they had to go and find a new victim and it looks like the fava calhou ao Castle. And now we suffer even more while waiting for renewal.
ReplyDeleteNot rage, just fed up.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion there are so many others that are much better it is going to be a hard year for shows with such small audiences. We may both be very sad in the coming weeks.
ReplyDeleteThe save one show thing doesn't do anything to help save a show. And hashtags have no effect in these comments anyway.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that CW only programs 10 hours,ANTM takes a partial fall slot(airing from August til mid Nov),and ANTm,Reign,Arrow,SPN,TO,VD have already been renewed-that's six spots filled already, plus don't forget HoD will most Likley be renewed for syndication -that'll leave only three spots for new shows/The 100/TTP unless HoD gets a shortened season.
ReplyDeleteWhat with Bates motel?
ReplyDelete1.5 for Almost Human yet the viewers went up. I don't understand.
ReplyDeleteThe new viewers must have been either under 17 or older then 50.
ReplyDeleteAt least the Castle viewers, for the most part, stuck around instead of bailing like they did for the other two shows...it even looks like some of the "out of demo" viewers tuned in for the last 1/2 hour.
ReplyDeleteI wish every network had a wrap up slot.
ReplyDeleteCW is probably the nicest network in my opinion. They warn shows and allow them time to finish story lines more often than any of the other networks from what I can tell.
Obviously but I wonder where have the pre-Olympics 18-49ers have gone.
ReplyDeleteagreed, the fact that Nikita got itself a 6 episode long fourth season is hella nice.
ReplyDeleteHope the BatB writers knew not to end this show on a cliffhanger
Almost Human was really improving in the whole Season 1
ReplyDeleteand where is my Season 2?!!
I hope Star-Crossed will get more viewers as the season goes on, I'd hate to see it get cancelled :(
ReplyDeleteTPTB made a huge mistake making Almost Human a procedural and not a serialized show. The show created more buzz when they hinted at mythology and talked about the wall and the other mytharcs. Ratings just prove this. Shame, really.
ReplyDeleteWell, go check on Addic7ed because the subs are usually great, of course there are always mistakes but let's not forget these people work for free ^^
ReplyDeleteAnd I never watch an episode twice so I prefer to watch it with the sub though there will be one or two mistakes:)
Thats likely a 0.3 in the demo so its still DOA
ReplyDeleteI really agree. It gives them something to show on Friday between Thanksgiving and Christmas and makes their audience feel better about starting watching a series on the CW because at least they will get closure.
ReplyDelete
