Scene Of The Week - February 23, 2014 - POLL

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently.

ALMOST HUMAN, "Disrupt", February 17, 2014, Actors: Michael Ealy, Karl Urban and more
The Scene: DRN talks Emily out of suicide
Darth Locke:
DRN talks Emily out of suicide, while Nico helps John take out the S.A.M.s and other security malfunctions and tries to get to and protect Kay Stenson.

BANSHEE, "Ways to Bury a Man", February 21, 2014
The Scene: Fight at the skinheads workyard (picked by DarkUFO, Sandi wich and Sharon Seymour)

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, "Redemption", February 17, 2014, Actors: Kristin Kreuk, Jay Ryan
The Scene: Catherine's dream at the end of the episode
Virginia Fontana:
This gave some pretty deep insights into her desires and fears about Vincent, and was beautifully portrayed in all of its romantic anxieties by Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan.

CASTLE, "Smells Like Teen Spirit", February 17, 2014, Actors: Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic
The Scene: Castle and Beckett dance at the high school winter prom
Diana Mack:
Castle and Beckett dance at the high school winter prom, then "In my veins" plays in the background. They both express how much they love the song and then agree on having it at their wedding. Also picked by Babar Suhail

HELIX, "Bloodline", February 21, 2014, Actors: Hiroyuki Sanada, Meegwun Fairbrother
The Scene: Hatake and Daniel carry Constance's head in a cooler outside the base
Darth Locke:
Hatake and Daniel carry Constance's head in a cooler outside the base to be cryogenically preserved in the ground. Although I was hoping for a few more episodes with Constance, this episode had a lot of action and character turnarounds. I chose this scene, because we see Daniel defy and confront Hatake, but yet continue to still stand beside him.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, "Free Fall", February 18, 2014, Actors: Lucy Hale, Ian Harding
The Scene: Ezra tells Aria the truth
Virginia Fontana:
Ezra reveals that he's actually been a true crime journalist this whole time, that he knew Ali, and that he also knew who Aria was when they met and dated her to get information about Ali. This reveal is bursting with so much crazy sauce that it might be PLL's biggest WTF moment to date. I find it outrageously ludicrous, heartbreaking, frustrating, and yet potentially creep-tastic and noir-ishly unsettling. As classically stupid as it was for Aria to get on the ski lift, it made for a fabulously strained and treacherous place to hear Ezra's back story. Also picked by Diana Mack

TEEN WOLF, "Letharia Vulpina", February 17, 2014, Actors: Dylan O'Brien, Tyler Posey and more
The Scenes: Nogitsune reveals himself to Scott & Derek saves Chris
Justyna Kubica:
"You really have to learn not to trust a fox. Know why? 'Cause they're tricksters. They'll fool you. They'll fool everyone." Wow! I don't know how, but the cast and crew of this show continue to amaze me. This time it was very hard to pick the best scene, there were so many I loved, f.e. Coach's speech and Derek saving Chris, but in the end it's the last scene that got me the most. It was so intense and even though I expected a confrontation between Nogitsune and Scott I was completely surprised by the fact that Stiles was gone for the entire episode and it was all just a smart trick. And of course, I have to mention Dylan O'Brien's performance, he's such a brilliant actor and was truly scary in the scene. He's one of the reasons why Nogitsune is such a fascinating villain and is quickly becoming one of my favorite ones on the show. Also, I loved Scott's reactions to the Dark Stiles. Even though he was clearly terrified by the entire situation, he still worried about his best friend. I absolutely love the friendship between the two. And his concern was so visible and genuine that it made the scene felt really emotional. Great job by Tyler Posey! And let's not forget about Deaton showing up at the end. Hopefully he finds a way to save Stiles, because at this point, I'm very much worried about him. There are so many ways for him to die, and even if he survives (he better survive!), I hope he won't be destroyed by the guilt, since clearly everything that's happened is not his fault. Poor guy. I can't wait to see next episode. This season has been fantastic so far. Kudos to the creators!
Klutzy girl: After having previously told Chris he wouldn't save him if a situation comes up, Derek does save him when the bomb goes off at the police station. This is the man whose sister murdered his family, but he did it anyway. It was just an amazing scene.

THE FOLLOWING, "Reflection", February 17, 2014, Actors: Kevin Bacon, James Purefoy and more
The Scenes: Ryan is disturbed by the role reversal & Joe and Lily have sex
Christopher Reilly:
Ryan is disturbed by the role reversal when he takes a terrified woman hostage in her home. I found these scenes some of the best of the season, illustrating how far Ryan’s fallen in his hunt for revenge against Joe Carroll, and Kevin Bacon did some wonderful reaction work.
Sharon Seymour: Joe Carroll and Lily have bloody sex.

THE FOSTERS, "Us Against The World", February 17, 2014, Actors: Hayden Byerly and more
The Scene: The whole family celebrates Jude's "secret birthday"
Klutzy girl:
That was an adorable scene, and I'm glad he and Callie have a family that loves them.

THE WALKING DEAD, "Inmates", February 16, 2014, Actors: Lauren Cohan, Steven Yeun and more
The Scenes: Maggie and the group clear the bus & Glenn and Tara fight their way out of the prison & Maggie breaks down
DarkUFO:
Maggie and the group clear the Bus to check if Glenn was there.
Sharon Seymour: Glenn and Tara fight their way out of the zombie infested prison.
Klutzy girl: Maggie breaking down after clearing the bus. That was such a sad scene, and I can't wait until she and Glenn are reunited.

TRUE DETECTIVE, "The Secret Fate of All Life", February 16, 2014, Actors: Matthew McConaughey and more, The Scenes: Hart kills one of the child abusers & Rust explains "In Brian Theory" to the other detectives & The last scene
DarkUFO: Hart kills one of the child abusers and Cohle shoots at the drug maker who runs into his own booby trap and explodes.
Darth Locke: Rust explains "In Brian Theory" to the other detectives. True Detective has been one of the best series I've seen in a long time, but this episode feels like a great turning point gearing up to whatever it's seemingly unpredictable ending will be. There were so many scenes that I liked, but a lot of times, for me, it's the way Matthew McConaughey can spill and spin his often contradictory philosophies with such surreal and poetic prose.
Diana Mack: It was an amazing episode, like Darth Locke mentioned. I'll pick the last scene as an example: Rust goes into an old place (a church I suppose, I don't remember) and finds some interesting and strange objects: sculptures and black stars on the wall. All the scene was surrounded by a sense of darkness, tension and forebonding.
