Revenge - 3.07 - Resurgence - Review

Last week’s episode ended with the reveal of Emily’s revenge plan for Victoria. Pinning Emily Thorne’s murder on Victoria, is quite brilliant, but means losing everything she’s developed for the past 3 years. Emily has always been one cold gal,but we’ve seen her soften with time. Can she really leave her BFF/partner in crime, Nolan, her childhood crush, Jack or even her, now trying to sabotage her and secretly hating her, half-sister, Charlotte?

Resurgence: A rising into life, activity, or prominence after a period of little activity, popularity, or occurrence.
The Grayson's fortune and need for attention, the feelings Jack still has for Fauxmanda, the spark between Sarah and Daniel, the hatred Nolan carries towards the woman who ousted him to his father and old fashioned takedowns resurge in this episode of Revenge.

The Graysons, now that their fortune has been returned, are back in the spot light: parties and mischief. Conrad’s hired the professional help of one Bizzy Preston (Ana Ortiz, Devious Maids) to help with their image. Oddly enough, the focus was mainly on Emily and Victoria’s delicate relationship than any other member of the Grayson clan. Conrad is writing his memoirs, he wants the Grayson name to command respect again. I am no PR expert, but having an entourage in the tabloids and who have incredible articles written about them, make for a bigger chance that people will want to read your book. People love a good scandal, just saying.

Jack’s finally taken of his wedding ring. I honestly thought his with Nolan at the bar was directed on his clearly unresolved feelings for Emily. Instead we went to Amanda’s grave, the wife he knew absolutely nothing about, that he had for one night. Saying goodbye to his deceased wife actually opened him up to a new relationship with Margaux. I could seriously have forwarded most of these scenes without an ounce of remorse.

It’s the fourth of July again and parties are usually synonym of takedowns in the Hamptons. There was a lot of revenging going on in this one particularly. Charlotte’s pushing for Sarah and Daniel, Aiden’s triple agent tactics, which keeps confusing the hell out of me, to get close to Emily, and Nolan trying to get back at Bizzy for outing him 10 years ago. There definately is enough anger to go around.

We all knew Nolan away from technology wouldn’t last for long. I loved to whole bugging the chair at the restaurant spy move, and the spy-ish Google glasses, but what was the point of having Busy find out about Emily’s first wedding and then outing her to Victoria? Is this part of the long con? Or did I just miss something?

There was also Charlotte, who is trying to break up Emily and Daniel’s engagement. She has learned from one of the best, and she is succeeding. Poor Daniel, he thinks he has free will but he’s being manipulated by all sides, I am starting to have pity on him, he seems so defenseless. But, I would never defend someone that cheats on their fiancé, if you’re unhappy, leave, point blank, even if the women you’re engaged to is Emily Thorne.

Speaking of our dear friend Emily, there are problems coming her way, and she only has a couple of weeks to turn them around if she wants her revenge plan to succeed. Victoria, now on board with Charlotte’s plan, no longer needs Aiden. I am guessing this will be a problem for Emily because she needed him inside the house to be able to plant evidence. I am sure this will no problem for Miss Thorne, she seems to turns around on her plans with no trouble whatsoever. There is also the growing pain, Charlotte, which is expertly getting Daniel and Sarah back together. I just hope Emily will be gentle when taking down Sarah. She seems like a decent enough person, and has in no way asked to become a part of this.

This week finally episode showed us a Nolan desperate for revenge, with Emily as a wingman. Nolan’s heart is though, as we could see, less dark than Emily’s. He opted to save Bizzy’s marriage instead of ruining her life altogether. “I guess my takedowns have a silver lining”.
Their friendship truely is what makes the show great. Once past the extravagent parties and magnificent wardrobe choices and the ever so present revengda, the fact that these two outsiders have found each other truely is what make this show so fun to watch.

“I have taught you well little grasshopper.”
