EW has learned exclusively that Richard Schiff and McKayla Maroney have been tapped for guest spots in an upcoming episode. Schiff (West Wing) will play Leon Watters, described as the “Dr. Brennan of theoretical physics.” Per the storyline, Brennan sees shades of herself in the detached Watters, whose daughter’s death will be the investigation at the center of the episode, and she is quick to recognize that Watters is burying himself in his work to cope with his loss.
Meanwhile Maroney, who earned two medals during the 2012 summer Olympics, will play Ellie, a friend and rival of Watters’s daughter, Amanda.
