UPDATED THURSDAY SCORECARD
It was a dominant Thursday for Fox courtesy of the two-hour “American Idol” season-ender. But 13.61 million viewers and a 3.4 rating/11 share among adults 18-49 (based on the fast affiliate data from Nielsen) was down by a hefty 7.88 million viewers and 47 percent in the demo from the year-ago season-finale (Viewers: 21.49 million; A18-49: 6.4/18 on 5/23/12, based on the live plus same day data). Remember the days when the “American Idol” season-ender housed 30-million viewers? This is, in fact, the first “Idol”-ender not to hit the 20-million mark.
Elsewhere, “The Big Bang Theory” concluded season five on CBS as the top-rated show of the night, with 14.78 million viewers and a 4.4/18 among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. “The Office” ended its nine-season (and 200 episode run) on NBC with a season-high performance (and a very satisfying send-off in this viewers’ opinion). The season-finale of “Grey’s Anatomy” still has life on ABC, but sophomore lead-out “Scandal,” also a season-ender, was the standout. And the two-hour season-finale of “Elementary” on CBS earned its renewal stripes with an adequate 8.93 million viewers and a 2.0/ 6 in the demo from 9-11 p.m. (opposite a night of heavy competition).

About the Daily Ratings
Each day (except Sunday) we post the TV Ratings for the previous night.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the
Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below)

GA...not good at all!!
ReplyDeleteWow... Take a bow Scandal
ReplyDeleteIt's still fine for a 9 season show, that and it went up against the Office series finale.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me if I sound like an idiot, but is Vampire Diaries in danger with 1.0?
ReplyDeleteBut its the lowest this season
ReplyDeleteNope, it is not. That and Supernatural are the only shows on the CW to have that type of rating
ReplyDeleteNope, it's one of the CW's highest rated shows. So you don't need to worry! :)
ReplyDeleteYou don't sound like that, it's very safe.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but with all things considered, a 3.0 isn't that bad.
ReplyDeleteThat's great for The Office to go back in the 3.0s for one last time.
ReplyDeleteWhat it means is that this series finale was must see TV. It's like when The Walking Dead gets a 5.5 rating on A18-49, it's because people cannot stand the idea of possibly having the episode spoiled the next day, and I guess long-time viewers who had stopped watching and the rest of us still on board all felt the same way here.
And Arrow.
ReplyDeleteThe lowest this season was about 2.6.
ReplyDeleteScandal rocked it's hour and I'm still rewatching the season finale
ReplyDeleteso sad for Hannibal's ratings :(
ReplyDeleteIt was a good finale except for the last 5 minutes, which totally ruined the episode for me. Fitz crawling back on his knees to Mellie was a bit too much. I also didn't like how they handled the Olivia and Fitz relationship after the whole 'watch me choose you' and 'earn me' and 'I'm nothing without you' drama. The show is repeating itself in the regards of Olitz. This exact same thing happened with them in the season 1 finale and in 2.13. Eventually I want to see something new. The will they won't they drama is slowly getting to my nerves. But I still love the other aspects of the show and I'm kinda obsessed with it so I can't wait for season 3! And YAY for the awesome ratings!!! :D
ReplyDeleteHoly moly Scandal!!
