MOVIES : Epic - First trailer

Ice Age 4 has barely started to hit cinemas that 20th Century Fox treat us with a first trailer for their 2013 tentpole : Epic.

Synopsis : A teenage girl who finds herself in a secret world must help a team of fun and whimsical characters to save their world, which also saves the real world, in a battle deep in the forest between the forces of good and evil.

It's directed by Chris Wedge, director of Ice Age and Robots (he's also the "voice" of Scrat in all four Ice Age installments).

Based on the book by William Joyce (author of Meet the Robinsons & Rise of the Guardians, production designer of Robots), it's written by James V. Hart (Hook, Dracula, Contact), Tom J. Astle & Matt Ember (co-writers of Get Smart).

Produced by Blue Sky, this animated film stars :

Amanda Seyfried (Veronica Mars, Big Love) as Mary Katherine.
Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games) as Nod.
Colin Farrell (Minority Report) as Ronin.
Jason Sudeikis (30 Rock, SNL) as Bomba.
Aziz Ansari (Scrubs, Parks & Rec) as Mub.
Beyoncé Knowles (Dreamgirls) as Queen Tara.
Johnny Knoxville (Jackass) as Mandrake.
Steven Tyler (American Idol) as Nim Galuu.

The music in this trailer is What if the world ends, by Snow Patrol. Speaking of music, the score of Epic will be composed by Danny Elfman, frequent collaborator with Tim Burton, Sam Raimi & Gus Van Sant.

Besides the Ice Age series, 20th Century Fox animated films include Anastasia (1997), Titan A.E (2000), Robots (2005), The Simpsons Movie (2007), Horton Hears a Who (2008), Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009), Rio (2011) and now Epic.

It is scheduled for a release on May 24, 2013.
