Allie Gonino plays the role of Laurel Mercer on the teen mystery show "The Lying Game". Before that she was Michelle on the tv show "10 things I hate about you". Allie gives us some interesting insight into life on set of "The Lying Game" and her thoughts on her character Laurel Mercer. Also she tells us a little bit about her time with the girl group The Stunners who were an opening act on Justin Bieber's "My World Tour".
1. On "The Lying Game" you play Laurel Mercer, Sutton's sister. What do you like about your character? And is there something you don't like?
I have so much fun playing Laurel. Sometimes I feel like I'm reliving some moments I had when I was a sixteen year-old. But our lives are very different, which is also interesting because there are a lot of situations she has to deal with that I've never had to. I have siblings, but they're all much older than I am and we didn't really grow up together. Getting to play scenes with Alex [Chando] is neat in that way. It's nice to get insight to what having a sister close in age is like. I love that Laurel doesn't bathe in self-pity when she's having to go through all this crazy stuff. (You'll get to see even more craziness in the next episodes.) She remains strong in the face of adversity and that's what I admire. As of now, there's not really anything I don't like about her. I think for a spoiled sixteen year-old, she's turned out quite well. Maybe she could get some more friends though!
2. Do you think it is possible for Laurel to not realize that it's not really her sister who's living at their house at the moment?
I've been asking myself that same question! She's a smart girl, I don't know how she hasn't figured it out yet. But I'm justifying it by the relationship with Justin and her new music venture. Her head's been elsewhere, involved with her boyfriend and music. I also think she might just be grateful that her sister is finally being nice to her, and she's so innocent, I don't think she would even question the change.
