The Colbert Report - On hiatus for a few days, no return date has been set

Comedy Central's hilarious, bold and inventive talk show The Colbert Report will not air a new original episode tonight.

Production has halted on The Colbert Report for Wednesday and Thursday, according to fans who had tickets for the rest of the week's tapings.

Third Beat and Mediaite are reporting that audience members were informed late Tuesday night via email : "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have cancelled our taping for the date of your ticket reservation, February 15, 2012". And ColbertNation.com has been updated with a rerun scheduled for Thursday night's episode.

Multiple outlets have cited a family illness as the cause of the suspension of The Colbert Report, and now a person who has a business relationship with the show has told Huffington Post that Stephen's mother is seriously ill, and the show will remain suspended until he can return.

May his mother (who's 91) get better. She appeared in this video.

The awesome Claire Danes (Homeland) was supposed to be the guest on last night's show. It's actually really rare when Colbert has actors as guests, it's mostly politicians or journalists. These last 6 months, there were only 7 actors (out of 71 guests) invited on his show : Michael Moore (not really an actor but he's a renowned documentarist so I include him), John Lithgrow (for a book), Seth Meyers (not really playing a role on SNL though), Elijah Wood (for Happy Feet 2), Samuel L. Jackson (a play on Broadway), Daniel Craig (for The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo) and Drew Barrymore (for Big Miracle). Claire Danes would have been the 8th. By the way, Susan Cain was supposed to be on Colbert's show tonight.

If you're not watching Colbert's show, please watch it. It is beyond awesome. It's smart, entertaining and the fact that he protrays a typical right-wing character is always source for laughs. And Colbert doesn't just report politics, he's making politics, too, for instance with his SuperPAC or his brief will to run for president of South Carolina last January. The Cain train had stopped, but he was on the ballot and Stephen was not, hence this alliance :

It's just one proof among others that Colbert is fantastic and that his show is brilliant, in my opinion. Laughs are guaranteed when watching it. Hopefully Stephen's mom will get better and he will be able to come back on the air soon.
