MONDAY


House beat The Voice to take the 8 o’clock slot, drawing an estimated 1,804,000 viewers. NCIS followed with 1,585,000 leading into another robust turnout for Hawaii FIVE-0 (1,937,000).

The Voice opened at 8 for CTV with 1,784,000 viewers, up slightly from the week before. Heavily promoted Smash dropped sharply for the second straight week, from 983,000 to 748,000 viewers.

Two and a Half Men was again the big draw over at CTV Two, where it was found by 1,413,000. Mike & Molly followed at 9:30 (1,228,000). Castle did 1,115,000. A repeat of The Mentalist at 8 drew 294,000.

2 Broke Girls is becoming a story at City, gaining 1,059,000 viewers at 8:30 p.m. How I Met Your Mother got City’s night off on the right foot (804,000). Alcatraz was even at 734,000 viewers. Law & Order: UK ended the night with 148,000 at 10.

CBC’s Monday lineup showed some push-back against first-run competition. Mr. D drew 817,000 viewers, Little Mosque 392,000 and Redemption Inc. 526,000, all up over the week before.

TSN drew a high of 521,000 with its Tournament of Hearts curling coverage. Score pinned 398,000 with WWE Raw. A Pawn Stars Family Day marathon on History topped out at 362,000. Episode 4 of Canada’s Greatest Know-It-All drew 294,000 on Discovery. Midsomer Murders killed on TVO (243,000). Pretty Little Liars at MuchMusic drew 181,000.


TUESDAY


Glee (1,736,000) ended its Global winter semester with a car crash cliffhanger. NCIS: Los Angeles soared to 2,038,000 at 9 with Parenthood raising another 610,000 at 10.

Whitney (905,000), Hot in Cleveland (867,000) held steady at CTV, but The River is sinking fast. In three weeks, overnight levels have gone from 1,268,000 to 803,000 to 684,000. Unforgettable (1,457,000) remains CTV’s only million-plus show on Tuesday nights.

The Rick Mercer Report stayed strong with 1,113,000 viewers as did 22 Minutes with 824,000. Arctic Air soared up a notch (784,000).

Everything was up slightly week-to-week at City. Last Man Standing (318,000) led into Cougar Town (372,000). New Girl (669,000) followed, leading into Raising Hope (345,000) and, at 10, Body of Proof (642,000).

CTV Two went with an overused movie (117,000) and The Mentalist (277,000).

The Leafs brought 846,000 to Sportsnet Ontario for a game against New Jersey. Canucks drew 407,000 to Sportsnet Pacific, Flames 310,000 to Sportsnet West. Discovery had another bonanza with an hour of Gold Rush Alaska (577,000). More Hearts Curling on TSN saw a high of 490,000 for an afternoon draw. Brad Meltzer Decoded drew 291,000. Canada’s Handyman Challenge did 282,000 on HGTV. The Brit Awards drew 92,000 at MuchMusic.


WEDNESDAY


Two shows that date back to 2000 vied for top show of the night, with CTV’s CSI coming out on top. The forensic crime drama drew 2,350,000 at 10, with a two-hour American Idol opening CTV’s night with 1,794,000 viewers.

Survivor: One World drew 2,254,000 in its second week and beat CTV’s CSI in the demos. Nothing else survived on Global, including Are You There Chelsea? (331,000), The Office (231,000) and Kitchen Nightmares (495,000).

Criminal Minds (1,492,000) exploded over at CTV Two. Law & Order: SVU followed at 10 (729,000). America’s Top Model was ignored by all but 58,000 at 8.

Dragons’ Den (1,089,000) and Republic of Doyle (1,003,000) both cracked a million-plus on CBC, the sixth week in a row for Doyle.

City went with The Middle (374,000), Suburgatory (408,000), Modern Family (838,000) and Happy Endings (461,000). A Murdoch Mysteries repeat (173,000) subbed for Revenge at 10.

A Senators game (504,000) outdrew curling (469,000 and 440,000 in the afternoon) on TSN.

Back-to-back episodes of American Restoration drew 321,000 and 365,000 on History, where IRT: Deadliest Roads drove off with 460,000 and Boston Rob’s Around the World in 80 Ways did 226,000. Four Weddings Canada did 79,000 on Slice.



THURSDAY

Big Bang Theory (3,513,000) stayed No. 1 on CTV. Up All Night (793,000) fell a ton at 8:30. Grey’s Anatomy was up at 2,074,000. The Mentalist was down slightly at 1,874,000.

American Idol (1,221,000) was down week-to-week on CTV Two. The movie Knocked Up (206,000) followed.

Leafs/San Jose was a big draw (1,201,000) on TSN, where another 597,000 watched curling.

The Exes continues to draw 0’s for Global at 8 (264,000), but Rob (912,000) just keeps beating expectations. The Finder found 922,000 at 9, followed by The Firm (659,000) out of simulcast at 10.

David Suzuki’s moving Journey to the Disaster Zone of Japan, post-tsunami, boosted Nature of Things (705,000) to a season high. Doc Zone (517,000) followed on CBC at 9.

City aired 30 Rock (219,000) and Parks and Recreation (327,000), with viewers showing more interest at 9 in Person of Interest (832000). Private Practice ended City’s night with 552,000.

Canucks hockey drew 482,000 on Sportsnet Pacific. Undercover Boss Canada stayed strong on W, hiring another 489,000 at 9 p.m.

FRIDAY


Marketplace continues to have an extraordinary year, pulling 1,314,000 viewers at 8 with its expose on eyewear, “Framed.” Mercer 2.0 followed big with 841,000 on CBC, and then the fifth estate got 633,000 with “Fearless.”

CTV did well again with Undercover Boss at 8 (1,149,000). Things got Grimm at 9 (830,000) followed by another strong Blue Bloods (1,674,000).

King, which returns for a second season Feb. 29, repeated to 329,000 at 8 p.m. Global gained at 9 with A Gifted Man (975,000). Ringer drew 494,000 at 10.

Who Do You Think You Are (494,000) and Fringe (445,000) led into Mantracker (207,000) on City. Shark Tank (530,000) drew blood on CTV Two, followed by Nikita (129,000) and Dateline (426,000).

A Hearts playoff tilt drew 792,000 on TSN, where another 528,000 watched Canadiens battle the Capitals. The Canucks pulled 405,000 on Sportsnet Pacific. The kids movie Meet the Robinsons drew 403,000 on Family. SpongeBob soaked up 346,000 on YTV. WWE Smackdown drew 242,000 on Score.

SATURDAY

Hockey Night in Canada dipped to 1,800,000 for a Toronto/Washington tilt. The late game, featuring Calgary and Philly, drew 818,000; The 'Peg pulled 547,000 in the afternoon skate.

Global buried Celebrity Apprentice on Saturday at 8, six days after it aired on NBC, and still got 550,000 viewers.

The Tournament of Hearts Curling semi-final drew 852,000 on TSN. Saturday Night Live slipped to 309,000 at 11:30 p.m. on Global. Merlin did 355,000 on Space.

SUNDAY

CTV managed to squeeze The Amazing Race in at 7 (1,939,000) before switching to ABC’s Oscars Red Carpet Live (2,516,000) and then the 84th Annual Academy Awards, a massive hit with 6,090,000 overnight, estimated viewers. An earlier CTV red carpet show was up year-to-year with 1,109,000 tuning in.

The Scott’s Tournament of Hearts curling finale aired to 1,003,000 on TSN’s afternoon schedule. The bronze medal game pulled 633,000.

Global survived the Oscar blitz with the 501st episode of The Simpsons (856,000) plus Napoleon Dynamite (374,000), Family Guy (461,000), American Dad (406,000), The Good Wife (324,000) and The West Block (102,000).

Heartland managed 863,000 at 7 opposite the red carpet hoopla. CBC repeated John A: Birth of a Country at 8 and did 435,000.

There was more red carpet glam over at CTV Two at 7 (782,000). CSI: Miami did 478,000 at 10.

A Canucks game scored 475,000 on Sportsnet Pacific. The Canadian-produced Mighty Planes managed to premiere to 230,000 and 215,000 on Discovery opposite Oscar.
