USA Network's hit medical dramedy Royal Pains returns with six all-new episodes beginning Wednesday, January 18th at 10/9c!
The midseason finale last Summer saw Dr. Hank Lawson(Mark Feuerstein) treating patient Eric Kassabian(guest star Wilmer Valderrama), the art gallery owner who bought Paige's(Brooke D'Orsay) painting. But when Hank sent Kassabian to the Hamptons Heritage Hospital, entrusting his patient to Dr. Paul Van Dyke(Kyle Howard), Kassabian's life is put at risk when Divya(Reshma Shetty) mistakenly refills Kassabian's prescription. In the final moments of the midseason cliffhanger, viewers were left with Kassabian in an unconscious state just as Hank rushed in to hopefully save him.
Much like last season, USA Network is airing winter episodes of their hit series beginning in January, with Royal Pains and White Collar both returning to finish off their summer seasons. I must admit that I was not a fan of last year's winter Pains episodes, as the Summer feel and Hamptons setting for the series simply did not feel right when being watch with heavy snow pouring outside my window. Further, it complicated my regular television season watching schedule as well.
However, unlike last year's midseason premiere in January, this year's episode actually kept me engaged and excited for the return of more episodes of Royal Pains. The fate of Eric Kassabian is revealed, and many other significant storylines were advanced as well. The episode was fully packed with drama, both relational and medical, and every second kept you at the edge of your seat. The episode is also filled with the usual Royal Pains comedy, with the episodic case centering around a party planner for a divorce party, an unusual ceremony which basically translates on screen as a wedding in reverse.
Viewers will see a positive advancement in Evan(Paulo Costanzo) and Paige's relationship, a difficult decision that Jill(Jill Flint) has to make, as well as Divya's struggle to come to terms with her mistake and secrets. Tom Cavanagh also returns as professional golfer Jack O'Malley, a patient whom Hank treated in Season Two.
Hank Med. is back in business with brand new episodes, and viewers and loyal fans of the USA hit series have much to look forward to when the show returns on January 18th.
