The Directors Guild Awards took place last night. As The Wrap reports, here's the results :

— Comedy series : Robert B. Weide, Curb your Enthusiasm (episode 8.03, Palestinian Chicken).

Robert B. Weide's win for Curb your Enthusiasm marks the second win of the show at the DGA. The first one was in 2003 for episode 3.06 (The Special Section), directed by Bryan Gordon. Weide is also the recipient of the only Emmy Award Curb your Enthusiasm has ever won : an Emmy for best directing in 2003 (episode 3.08, Krazee-Eyez Killa). May season 8 continue to bring awards to Curb your Enthusiasm and may Larry David decide to do a ninth season.

Jon Cassar, director of 58 episodes of 24 from 2002 to 2009, previously won a DGA award in 2007 for his work on 24 (episode 5.01 : 7:00am - 8:00am). He also won an Emmy award for best directing on that episode.

Patty Jenkins, writer/director of the Oscar winning film Monster, also directed an episode of Arrested Development and 2 episodes of Entourage. Her win for her directing of the pilot of The Killing marks the show's first award win.

Michel Hazanavicius, director of The Artist, won for best feature film. This award show exists for 63 years. 57 times, the winner went on to win an Oscar for best directing, which means there's a 90.5% chance that Hazanavicius will win the Oscar for his fantastic work. Furthermore, 50 of those 63 times (including the last five in a row), the movie winning at the DGA also won the Oscar for best film the following month, meaning there's technically a 79.4% chance that The Artist will also get the Oscar for best film. Jean Dujardin, Bérénice Bejo and the ensemble cast of The Artist are nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, tonight.
