Once Upon a Time - Episode 1.12 and Episode 1.13 - Casting Sides

Please note that the following information is very spoilery.

I’m only going to summarize (i.e. not write out the whole scene verbatim), so there is still a little something to look forward to in the episode when it airs.

A character named Abigail is advising Prince Charming about the River Guardian, about how every man who faces it leaves an offering first in exchange for mercy. In front of them is a pile of items left behind by those who’d come before him and failed to defeat the creature. Charming insists that he will go the rest of the way alone, though Abigail tries to convince Charming to let her go with him since this is for her. Charming says no.

Charming comes upon the River but sees no sign of the evil creature Abigail had warned him about. He goes to fill his empty water skin, causing the water to ripple. The ripple spreads and a moan-like sound gets louder as the ripple spreads wider, ultimately fading as the ripple fades. Charming starts causing more ripples, thus making the moaning sound get louder, as he searches for the source of the noise. The water starts to churn, and out comes…

…a beautiful, sexy woman in white. It’s the Siren.

CUT TO:

David is alone in his house, looking at a photo of himself with Kathryn. The break-up has taken its toll on him, so he takes his cell phone out and calls…

…Mary Margaret, who’s outside the school, where the kids get picked up. She asks David if he did it [broke up with Kathryn, I’m assuming]. David says he did, and it was really bad. Mary Margaret says she’s sorry, but now she and him can pick up the pieces and start over from a “real place.”

Back at the River, the Siren is trying to seduce Charming, but he is able to resist. The Siren says that she can be anyone he wants, but he still rejects her. The Siren gets angry and says, “Really? You’re immune to me.” She then pours some water from the river over her and she transforms into…Snow White.

So, it seems like David did pick Kathryn back in episode 6, but he couldn’t help but continue to fall for Mary Margaret. In the spoiler set photos that were released today, you can see that David is still wearing his wedding band. But he’s with Mary Margaret. It seems the David/Mary Margaret relationship is not being as drawn out as I thought it would be, which I’m grateful for. I feared we wouldn’t see any movement until next season.

In the fairytale world, I do wonder who this “Abigail” character is. I thought that we would be seeing Prince Charming take on the beast in episode 6, but he’s once again faced with having to slay some monster in this episode. So, I don’t know if they’re the one and the same or if this is another quest he’s on. The fact that the Siren turns into Snow White at the end to try and lure him is interesting. I wonder in what point of Snow and Charming’s relationship this takes place. Is it before he finds her in the glass coffin or after? Guess we’re just going to have to wait and find out!
