Modern Family - Episode 2.24 - The one that got away - Review

Modern Family’s season finale, "The One That Got Away," gave us some great moments on Wednesday night closing with a big development for Mitchell and Cam and setting up the scene for the show’s third season!

Much like last year’s episodes, "The One That Got Away" revolves around Jay's family messing up his plans for a tranquil, relaxing birthday. This year all the poor guy wants is to go fishing and have a nice family dinner afterwards. The family of course has other plans!

Mitchell and Claire end up having a trip down to memory lane during their photo-re-creation fiasco at their old house as a birthday gift to J. That’s where Mitchell realized how easy growing up was because he had Claire. ( The scene of them turning back into little kids after their dad picks them up was fantastic.) Cam worked as an advisor to Manny who was trying to express his feelings to a girl which ended up in a hilarious bakery scene where people interpret Cam as a pedophile! In both circumstances Jay was there to save the day-but not his day!

Phil's lust for Gloria has also been a reliable source of jokes not only in this episode but over the course of the series. I am glad however that Phil, through someone else’s eyes found a new appreciation for Claire because his Gloria crush was getting a little old.
Moreover, I think it was great to show scenes of some of the year’s best episodes when the kids were trying to make a video for Jay as a birthday gift.

This season’s final episodes weren’t as big as last years but worked as a great way to set up season 3.

Finally, I know it has been used a million times on the show but I still can’t help it but laugh out loud with the stairs at the Dunphy’s and Phil’s reaction!
Come on Phil, fix it already!!!
